Just like they do in real life.

I guess it should not matter to me since I have limited time to play these days, but just know that PR has taken a step or two backward. I'm certain I've wasted my time even posting this.
Combat Veteran? give me a break from the above statement you are clearly a person who has never held a rifle in your life let alone actually been in a firefight.

OH MY GOLLY GEE!!! What a funny little guy you are...
I was serving my country when you were still pissing your pants. Your comments are so utterly laughable that it's not even worth me getting upset about.

It really all depends, if it was made with a whole new engine, fastropes, etc then i would spend $49.99-59.99

First off let me say .85 is terrific and you have brought back the fun to the game for me. I have been playing since .5 and this is a solid improvement. When I look at the amount of hours I play and the enjoyment I get I would gladly pay $60.00. Unfortunately, we are an entitlement society and want everything free which is pathetic. Once you give it away it is hard to then charge for it.

I don't get it, guys I know who are ex/current army seem to think that .85 is far better than .8
And firefights do last along time ingame, if you actually take cover etc.
I want realism ingame as well, but not being able to shoot something 100m in front of you while crouched wasn't realistic either?

I'd pay as much as any other game costs

.85 is great, it has lifted the experience for me.

if i was rich i would buy PR and put all the devs onto a payroll (r-cons however will get minimum pay

), oh and also i would buy computer scientists to build the Project Reality game engine, w000 fastropes!
if i was rich though
btw why is rico flaming about "combat vetenarism" so much?

I would gladly pay 60 bucks. The game would be ALOT better if it was build from the ground up on a different engine as long as it had the same feel as it does now

I've been so busy with family and work that I only had time to test the first two (2) test build releases, so I missed the test sessions for the major changes that came afterward. Not that my input would have changed anything because it is obvious that certain R-Devs either don't know **** about what is takes to make a game seem realistc, or are not interested in "REAL" reality at all. But I gotta say I am HIGHLY "let down" by this latest .856 release.
It pains me to think that some of the R-DEVs that I personally know and love had a hand in this mess. I know I've been away for a bit, but come on. What were ya thinking? This is NOT reality, not even close. Not anything close to what it once was.

One of the devs, I think it was Okita who said something along the lines of: "Once we fix deviation, people are going to start bitching that they're getting shot too often and that we need to tone down accuracy" and at the time, foolish me thought he was full of it because .8 deviation was so bad. And lo and behold, it's happening.

ya, i was amazed... i got 5 kills with the stolen american sniper rifle from distances 50-200 meters..... and barley missed the ones i did miss....
on .85, it tock one hour to kill an e.. and if he moved, it tock another hour...
in rl guns are accurate.... and you can hit someone infront of you while running or moving,
im only a teenager, and i know that guns are as accurate as the person shooting them.
it takes about 1 second to get a good aim on a target 50 m out with ironsights.... and i mean a small birdy...
guns are accurate enofe, you can hit a 2ft by 2 ft target at 100m (i did it w/ m1 grand in under 8 second using ironsight and hit it first shot. that mean asson as i put the gun to my sholder...)
and on what i have seen and heard, it is possible that i am incorrect, but gunfights dont take hours to fight... major assults take a long time, but with a player limit of 32v32, you can have a large skirmish, but one team will take over becuase of shooting from one place for an hour, a squad or to will flank and attack another obj (ingame) becuase ppl get bored shooting over and wall, and run out of ammo.
it is a game, and with that being states, the GAME part, there will neaver be 7 hour gunfights.....
i mean if its 3-5 hundred meters away gunfight, with cover inbetween, it can go for a good hour, but somone will get overrun.....
and i would pay 100$for this game.
but only if there were fastropes and you could make it so the acuracy , is as accurate as possible for each gun itsself.... but still,
i hate how someone will say something they belive before they have time, the ins have good guns, the mosen nagant is a powerfull rifle, the ak's are not very bad, and i just feel that the mods have it as close as they can possibly go....
but to keep it on topic.
100$ for the game, with all fast ropes, accuracy, and avalibility for any vhicals, more ppl in one vhical, and solid moving objects.
sorry i got offtopic.... i just would pay for this mod itself..........if i had a job, i would send in money every payday

IF PR was a full stand alone game, i would be willing to pay the same for a full retail game.

In real-life a shootout that police/armed ccw's citizens get into are about 3 or so seconds, in your face shooting. A fire fight is a whole different story. What really bugs me about this new update (well a few things) is that they took the pilots pistol away.. I have not once been rescued when i went down, because once the enemy sees that red smoke, its on, because they know your helpless. And the stupid aimpoint dot is covering the front sight post, and a dev member said its perfectly realistic LOL well they have never fired an m16 with one obviously. The dot is supposed to be a little above the front sight. And as far as the no pistol for pilots, 9 times out of 10 now your never high enough too use your parachute anyway so at least let the pilot have one in case he is lucky enough to land safely. After all that being said, PR IS more realistic than any other game I have played, And I understand that they need to balance the game out, but in a diff way. If pilots are purposly parachuting to go offensive with a pistol than limit its accuracy and range, or give them 1 mag, or a dang knife. Oh and the blury screen when your being shot at is anoyying, if you cant hear the super sonic crack of the bullet going over your head and dust kicking up then you deserve to get hit, but why make us blind? Are we shooting new flashbang rounds?

I agree, since the new change I havent been able to hit/kill anyone with the sniper rifle yet, and this is under 500 meters.

Yes, i would pay for project reality because they could eventually make enough money to maybe make it into their own game, which would be amazing because they wouldnt have as many limitations as they do just now.
so quick answer is
If it stayed a mod - I wouldnt pay
If it was being its own game - Hell yes

I'd not pay for it. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the mod; but because they're using a legacy engine, there's lots of hard-coded drawbacks that can't really be circumvented; as well as frustrating balance issues and bugs which would make me feel swizzled if I had to part with real cash. I mean, really, would I spend the cash on PR, or save it for ARMA2? I can tell you which I'd plump for...
Maybe in a later incarnation the balance would be more to my preference and I'd consider it worth spending on, but ATM - no. Sorry.

The only reason bought BF2 was to play PR and even then I felt dirty. I paid £10 for BF2 so I guess really I paid £10 for PR. So I've already paid and shouldn't have to pay more

I haven't played BF2v since I bought the game lol.
Anyway if they charged for PR where would the money go? I mean there are so many contributors would they all get a percentage equal to their contribution? Surely that would be fair but probably impossible. Personally I think it should stay free unless something drastic changes.

As it is right now, I'd pay about $20. If they ever got the chance to work around the hard coded stuff, definitely full price.

i wouldn't pay anything for pr in the shape it's in now since it's not a game on its own, and therefor limited in features/flexibility.
