Probably casue its only 9mm, same as a handgun.

So my suggestion: MP5/10 it's a 10mm SMG (same power as .45). Can be outfitted with a silencer, too.
This perfect combination of weapon and cartridge puts the firepower, penetration and hard hitting potential of a .45 ACP Thompson SMG into a package identical in size and weight to the 9mm MP5!

The US Army never adopted the SMAW. That photo is from Operation Desert Shield/Storm (note the "chocolate-chip" pattern desert camo), when the Army borrowed a couple hundred from the USMC on a trial basis.

I think that last post has just confirmed our advisers know what they are talking about ;)

Although I'm happy with the current system, if the Javelin were introduced ( It would require a kit unlock for the AT class, I'd imagie) I'd suggest him carrying one round in the tube along with the M9 and rely on Assault troop ammo bags for resupply. Basically you'd need a missile which locks onto tanks but fires at an upward angle at launch and arcs down for the top attack kill. He would be able to two-shot anything at great range on the battlefield, one-shot with advantageous placement, and serve as a walking ATS.

Chinese kit could field this with his 9mm; http://www.sinodefence.com/army/crewserved/type98.asp

Which would not be as effective against MBTs as the Javelin, but would be readily used in direct-fire bunker busting at long range. In order to field both HE and HEAT rounds with the weapon, the gunner would need to carry one of each (Like our shotgun shell varieties). This allows him to shoot his HE round in support of infantry while waiting on armor to arrive. On the other hand, the Javelin gunner has higher anti-armor lethality on the first shot but must conserve that round until armor presents itself.

I've no canidate for the MEC's heavy anti-tank weapon right now.

Both of these would come as unlocks, with the primary kit being the medium anti-tank weapon (much like our current ones) with an iron-sight M4 or M16 for the US and a submachine gun/AK for the opfor. I really would like to see more "rifle classes" and think a light-AT option could fit the bill.

There's also the hope Assault will switch between the M203 or a light rocket launcher, and Support will come in SAW or 240B/ RPK or PMK variants. I eagerly await such a bright future.

Any weapon can be fitted with a silencer. A 10mm short = .40 calibre does not have the same stopping power as a .45 though.

welll stopping power isnt entirely in the bullet size, theres RoF to count for too.

No, stopping power is the abiltiy of 1 round to 'stop' a target.

ROF has no impact on stopping power, it does effect weapon effectiveness but not stopping power.

The only link between ROF and stopping power, is if you take stopping power to mean a more modern sense of the teminology, which incorporates, the psycological, neurological and physiological effects of being hit by a certain round. For example, losing a lot of blood due to a round means you lose some combat abiltiy and to some extent have been 'stopped'. However TBH the idea of stoppping power should really be secondary to placement of a shot. A small cal hit to the head is as effective as a high cal round to the torso.

i was reffering to the second option ;)

but yes realy its the placement of a shot which is why i love my G36C spec ops carbine... so good at putting it between their eyes in vbf2

L85A1 ftw. I loved the scope on that, I seriously hope its PR equivalent comes with a SUSAT.

I was talking about the one in vBF2, the unlock. I hope the L85A2 in final PR will be equally accurate, fast and powerful as the vBF2 one. :D

The L86 needs to be implimented with the British

L86 is coming, being worked on now.

Also we are .. as noted .. working on an overhaul of the class system. It might not all get done for the next major release because we are pretty certain that we'll identify a need for new weapons that we might not get done in time, but we've had literally thousands of great posts on these forums about class systems and the balance between realism and game play... so we have a lot of material and I am sure there will be further discussion.

Additionally any new classes and/or weapon requirements will have to be modelled for all factions (US / UK / MEC / PLA) so that might affect how much of it we roll out all at once. Not referring to a different type of rifle, but more referring to totally new equipment that our class system requires that is not in game yet.

Another factor is if / how we implement any kind of class / kit limiting system. Designing classes to be balanced without an explicit kit limiter is slightly different than where there are explicit limits. Still working on that part, but we're making progress and, in paralell, will be working through the class types and kit loadouts.

If you notice, the soldier in your picture is a rifleman with a squad level light anti-tank weapon and not a dedicated anti-tank soldier.

PR is planing on implementing a light anti tank weapon as a selectable/random weapon for riflemen.
that WOULD be a gd idea having a light anti armour weapon for the asault kit (mybe the medic or support could be an option)
btw any of u guys plyed Forgotten hope for 1942?
they have different kits for different maps, e.g.:
they have a german AT kit with a bolt-action rifle and a panzerfaust 100

we need most of the weapons on the UK side to be realeted to the British army, none of this 'Euro Force' pish!

I love the SA80 series too. The cool plastic handgrip does it for me, and the bullpup gives it that carbine look without compromising on power. I can't wait to give it a try in game. If you need any more beta testers, you know where the PM button is. ;)

Thats a great idea, but please make class limitations.

All of this balancing mumbo jumbo would be out the window with some good 'ol kit limitations (assualt/rifleman being unlimited).

True but you still want it to be fun to play.
