Which is really useful to filter out the VBF2'ers.
It's this kind of attitude that helps lead to the slowness in developing of a community.

Instead of "filtering out" "vBF2'ers", perhaps more focus should be brought to bringing them into the fold by showing them the fun to be had with the teamplay of the game?

I say this as someone who plays an equal amount of VBF2 and PR. PR is superior in many, many ways to vBF2, but clearly there are some advantages to the systems and methods in both games (or everyone who play BF2 would likely convert).

Not everything "arcade-like" about BF2 is "arcade-like" for the sake of fast/mindless gameplay. Some of those things are added as convenience where the break between game and reality cannot be bridged by current technology.

An example:
Hit marker. Since you cannot have perfectly replicated real sound from the gunshot, the impact, the echo, etc, and, since you cannot really feel the impacts, vibrations, winds, nor see the dust particles, debris being displaced, and since you cannot communicate with teammates outside of your group who could often easily inform you as to the location of a shooter..........

The hit marker helps you locate the source of fire.

Perhaps it's too perfect, and makes your soldier super-human...
But no indicator at all leaves us more often confused than we might really be...

Some games provide a "white" marker every time a shot is fired, which goes far beyond BF2's only showing when you are hit... other games have none at all...

Which is better and more "realistic"... well you don't have a HUD in real life, but, you do know more than the limited BF2 engine can tell you... so... it's a "fix".

Now, throwing down ammo packs and instantly re-arming a guy with an unlimited supply of grenades, flying jets over runways to reload, and giving snipers super-deadly claymores? That's all just bullcrap and I'm very happy that PR deletes it...

But that's the point... some of the moves towards "realism" in PR aren't as flawless as people like to act, and, when the community wants to keep them to "weed out" vBF2 players, or promote anything that's different from vBF2 simply on principle that it's different, the community becomes "clannish"... and will ultimately go the route of Action Half Life 2, Natural Selection, or some other briefly somewhat popular mod that had a lot more potential than was ever realized ;) .

you DO know he's joking right?
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

The point of a sniper. Have the Commander or teamate send you on a hunt for a guy. Never happened for you? Then ask people whos been bugging em and where they are.

A insurgent with an RPG kept any light vehicles from advancing. I killed him. Thats the point of a sniper.
