Seeing earlier this week that I had to empty 5 rounds into a Chinese sniper at 10 yards away to kill him with an M16, I have finally sealed off my decision: anything bigger than 7mm. I wish we had the 7.62x45mm of the Czech vz. 52 but that'll never make it in-game.
Reasoning:
I like 7.62 rounds for a simple reason: They all have a great punch. It's never taken me more than 2-3 rounds to kill a man with even an AK-47, much less a G3. the G3 is all powerful in the game; I can't even complain about it's recoil; the AK-47 and AKS-47 are just as hard to control on full auto. That'd also be great if we had perhaps a G3KA4. I just love carbines with big rounds.
Thank you for your time.

lol yesterday a guy with an M4 ran into my building on Silent Eagle, emptied a whole mag (on burst) trying to kill me, while I was sprinting around the room and then outside, not a single bullet has hit me, when he started reloading, I turned around and pewpewd him down with my epicool AK74M on full auto.
There it was about the rifle, and not the round as theyre almost the same.
Also, ive been on the M4 guy's place a few times and I know how it feels..
Conclusion: ...Is all I need. My favorite AR in PR by far, despite the low damage 5.45, it just fails to fail in crucial times, unlike other high recoil ARs or burst mode ones.

For me it is shoot til he drops. I rather have good, aggressive, and smart teammates than a specific rifle.
I do favor the M16A4 ACOG so 5.56mm NATO

M4 Full Auto is awesome. Great firepower/suppressive effectiveness.

And will also leave you without ammo fairly quickly, god bless full auto, it weeds out the simple people.
Single shot, high caliber, a return to what armies used to field (and have started to bring back in).

No ammo. But still awesome
Really really I like the M4 w/ Aimpoint the most (realistically), but I'm just saying, the M4 full auto is the ultimate sex machine. Hear the roar it does, how it takes down enemies easily. One single spray and you suppress all the enemies on that wall. It's extremely accurate, never fails, and it quickly reloads so you can keep the shooting going, and if you run out of ammo, you probably already suppressed the enemy so hard he won't be able to stand anymore and will want a break. All you gotta do is look for a supply crate and rearm. Or look for your dead enemy's body, you're sure to find plenty of stuff in there.

hard choice, but i'll have to say 5.56/5.45
I really like the AK74 ironsights, the minimal recoil allowing for lots of shots on target in relative quick succession.
I do pretty well with all NATO 5.56 weapons too.
Don't get me wrong though i love the G3, especially on maps like muttrah and before EJOD, packing the punch to drop guys that might not be 100% in one was always fun on these maps. Felt like having a sniper rifle but still being mobile.

You have a certain amount of magazines for your rifle, once you run out of magazines....you run out of ammo.... if you have riflemen near you then it is fine, but if you don't then you are going to be left pissing in the wind, hence my comment, my apologies that you cannot understand.
Most people will also agree that suppressing fire doesn't need to be put down full auto with rifles.
Still, 7.62 all the way

5.56 for its low recoil which means easier control which ends in more bullets downrange (I have a bullet with your name on it, and I'll keep shooting till I figure out which one it is), 7.62/.308 for one shot one kill (And taking out targets at ~2000m isn't bad either), and .50cal for accurate, long range, devastating fire. You probably would become insane after the guy next to you blew into several meaty chunks after getting hit by a .50
