Was a writer focusing on mods for a Swedish Battlefield fansite, so I kept track of and tried pretty much all mods.
So I guess I found out about it through some form of mod announcement on some site. Can't recall exactly.

I actively sought it out without knowing of its existence. Game play in VBF2 was such a bloody disappointment I went looking for a mod which would fix the issues I had with it, looked at the list of mods in progress and found one that ticked all the boxes. PR Mini Mod FTW, after my first round which was Sharqi Peninsula on Gloryhoundz I was hooked. Cant believe I remember that :)

Googled "best most realistic war simulation"

I already had vBF2. Just got lucky I guess.

Ey!

Totally new here. Thought about installing BF2 again, saw PR on Youtube at work (nightshift, psychiatry -- a slow night, I admit)

Listen man, this mod is simply what I want out of a shooter. Hardcore, to the point, with a fanbase that is interested in dynamic and realistic gameplay.

I know console gaming is less hardcore than PC, and I'm from a mainly console background, but respect the forefathers...

First game (PC) - DOOM

Basically, I wanna get in. BAD. This ish looks awesome and I want to have some badassed gameplay, playing to win. Playing for sweet squadplay.

About me:

Amsterdam (yes, the narcotics are grrrrRRREAT)
25 y.o.

Hit me back.

Out.

Bought BF2 somewhere, heard it was good, from a friend. At first, it was nice, but after a short while, everything felt so spammy. So, as I was searching the web for modification, I stumbled upon moddb's website with a collection of BF2 mods. Tried a lot of them, including PR. What I liked about it, was that you had to be careful, as one shot could kill you, unlike in vBF2. That, and vehicles didn't blow up straight away - something I always complained about in vBF2.

I think it was around 0.3 (if 0.3 ever came out? was it 0.25 then?). Been playing ever since.

Version 0.4 was on its way, would be released within a couple of months, introducing the Brits. Man, what an amazing step forward. Too bad there never was a real trailer for it. Or was the background movie the trailer? Oh well.

Never played a game this long!

I was into BF1942 mods like Desert Combat before BF2 was announced. Initially I closely followed the development of Desert Conflict and CE:Legends then found out about PR, FH2 and POE2 through sites like TotalBF2 and ModDB.

It did take a while before I got into PR, because I was more interested in the 'total conversions' that still had a playerbase at the time. It wasn't really until PR moved out of its mini-mod stage and started developing a strong community.

It's interesting how PR has prevailed when every other mod has essentially died out (FH2 has had it's comebacks of course). Particularly since it started quite modestly compared to the total conversions. The gameplay and community is obviously far more important than simply content.

Considering how many players found out about PR from the vBF2 pop up ad, it seems very much worth chasing up DICE to do another one. I know some are paranoid about an influx of noobs but everyone is a noob at one stage and it brings in good players amongst the bad.

I was playing a source mod a while back when a friend on it told me about the new BF2 release and PR and I just thought what the hell. I fell in love and now I never play that source game anymore ^_^.

Owned and ran TotalBF2 a year before BF2 even came out and likewise knew every scrap of news including new mod concepts, such as PR. That was exactly 6 years ago now, and I'm still here! :)

Things have certainly changed!

I learned about PR when the release of .4 was shown on Moddb. I thought it looked pretty cool so I downloaded it and played it. Been playing ever since
