Your plans sound good - I'm really looking forward to some awsome mumble-experience again.

However, there is one thing, that should be made better, than RT did: The maplist.
I think it is not that important which maps you choose (as long as they are not the most unpopular ones... :) ) but you should mix the maplist up regularly.
Most regular players have the "fixed gametimes". Let's say three hours, starting at 7 o'clock in the evening. If you join the server every few days, you will get the same maps over and over again which gets boring pretty soon.
That was, in my opinion, one of the main reasons why RT died...

So, please, simply mix up you maplist every few days, to give us some variety! :)

Indeed that is a good point. There is a random map list script out there I believe, where you put all the maps you would like to be played on the server and the script picks the next map at random from the list, might be an idea for the server? :)

^ I'd like that

at least having 7 pre-made maplists so that every day is different would be enough

That's just nonsense. I don't have any doubt that, if one of the big UK servers chooses to be a full time or half time (e.g weekends) mumble server only, could cause a major drop in their player base.

Seriously, we have one of the smallest player base in the PR but still we have 30+ people in mumble every day and over 50 "registered" mumble users for our server.
the TG experience is unique as the TG community is huge, the admin team mature and experienced and their support in websites etc is very well done; its hard to replicate something that has been going for years.
Give us 300+ paying players and I don't think we have a problem populating one mumble channel.

Good luck with the server project guys

I guess some players just cant be bothered. There are some players who love a tactical military shooter, but the majority just sees a different flavour of Bf2 Vanilla in PR.

Also you need to become a regular on a server, to get the most out of the game. The players who do want a heavy use of tactics and teamwork just go to the TG server I guess. The other players just log on wherever a slot is free. Because of this the other servers do not evolve the way the TG server does.

I am just guessimating most or at least many players do not care about the tactic coordination and teamplay aspect of the game and are happy with shooting people and blowing stuff up and thats what the gameplay on some servers is like.

Also note that the us of A is a fairly developped country, where you have 300 million people with a decent computer and access to the internet with some of them not even knowing they have access to the internet and yet, there is just pretty much the TG server that is at that level in America. Then Id like to remember that BF2 launched with the American faction, which probably made the game more popular in America.

In Europe you have lots more countries. The Germans are a big block but still just 80 million and if 4 guys in the squad are German they speak German I guess. I think its similiar with swedish and finnish servers. So if we establish that you should have a pool of 300 million people and a couple of millions of Europeans on top of it, to fill a 64 player server with quality players on weekends, it is quickly explained why there are no such European servers.

It's always Kashan in UKWF at 18.00 (GMT +3). And it's horrible cause that's when I usually start gaming.

I think you are severely underastimating the cost here. BF2 PR is TG's most expensive server. Not per se hardwarewise, but in bandwidth.

When it was running full 24/7, sending data all the time to 62 ppl adds up to lots of cash. Many of the people complaining about the SM-kicks have a flawed estimation of server costs. In fact I wonder if the donations of all the supporting members that play PR are even covering the costs.

You can get a 64 slot BF2 server for like 50 euros(or less :P ) a month, unlimited bandwith etc. from a few different places, which is not that much.
