Re: =HOG= (North America)
I just wanna tell Brezmans, that I never got banned on your server for teamswitching before.
My friend told you why I wanted to switch to bluefor to play with him, I rarely play on your server to switch to blufor even.My ban was unfair and you could have atleast warned me first then kick me, I never saw a message saying im not allowed to switch.
Im posting here because your website is an absolute clusterfuck I dont even see any ban appeals forum

This isn't a ban appeal section, so I don' want to get into it. But I will say this: doing the same action that got you kicked on rejoining, will result in a tempban since we can only assume you're doing it intentionally.
Also, no, you've never been banned for teamswitching. You have been banned for plenty of other stuff. If you want to complete your collection of offenses, you're almost there.

First, click on the "Forum" button on the left side
second, third post from the bottom under the "APPEAL YOUR BAN FOR SELECTED SERVERS:"
you can actually see a server called "PR 24/7 MUTTRAH" with this written under it
"SR.ADMIN: =HOG= Brezmans - This forum is restricted to members only"
Meaning you need to register on their forums, which might be the reason you didn't see the sub forum in the first place...
But Here Is the link you need to go to.
Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera

Re: =HOG= (North America)
I read those, Sidekiller, but thanks for bringing it up again!
Today (talking about the past few hours), I took extra care to put less played maps into the vote. We're currently playing archer, the other votes were iron ridge and ghost train, two solidly underplayed maps.
As far as the 'sick of voting' goes, the majority of our maps will be voted on, but I'll let our admins know that it's ok to put up a map without a vote every once in a while and we'll see how the players react and take it from there.
Thanks for the feedback!

Re: =HOG= (North America)
An alternative to voting for maps; voting for asset density.
I'm a reserve admin on HOG (thanks Brezmans!), so I sometimes get to handle map votes. Instead of doing AAS vs. INS, then a few maps, I'll select the game mode (based on prior rounds, usually on a 2 AAS 1 INS cycle to give everyone a chance at both sides), then put up a vote between AASlight, AASmedium, and AASheavy. Light being mostly infantry with transports (generally infantry layers, often 2km maps), Medium being mixed infantry and medium armor, sometimes with light air (such as Dovre or Qwai), Heavy being mostly an asset emphasis (Khamisiyah, Black Gold, etc.) Once the vote is tabulated, I'll pick a map and announce it.
Ties/near ties are a good thing in this system, as you can find maps that satisfy both. If lots of people want medium or heavy asset maps at a given time, picking something like Saaremaa (which is decently heavy) or an alt layer of a heavy metal map might be a good choice.
Do you guys think that is a reasonable system as well?

Re: =HOG= (North America)
After playing countless of hours on HOG, today we had our first bad admin experience.
Map was Fools Road, we played as brits and actually pushed the enemy to Militia Fortress. We had a full squad inside the fortress already when we lost Old Estate. We decided to stay in case Estate will be re-capped so we could fullcap quickly.
Our AR opened up on a single guy moving from Militia main towards Fortress once (note that he was somewhere in between though, not in main). That was literally the only incident that could have been interpreted as rape and the guy in the opposite team even identified it as our AR in chat.
Now the fun part starts, our whole squad has dug in inside the fortress, with no way to even see enemies that might leave main. We fight off some guys coming in, that's about it. But York_54 decided that the whole squad of 8 people needed to be kicked for a very questionable incident. So we re-join and ask what that was supposed to be. Turns out York wanted to shut it down quickly and kicked half of us again, even banning Keios ...
Sorry, I'm used to better admins on this server and was really disappointed by that action.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
You were warned once. Then an admin our the other team confirmed that it kept happening. (I'll take his word on it every time) Since we are not with each of you every second you are playing, we have no way of knowing which one or more continued to fire into the enemy main. There was no reason for your squad to even be in fortress flag. Opfor had capped two flags behind you. So the squad is kicked because no way of telling who or how many were firing into enemy main which on our server is a bannable offence. You got off easy. Then you come back and start spouting off something or other disrupting gameplay.
Sorry, but we are used to better players on our servers.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
I even have a recording of the round, the whole squad was inside the fortress and nobody fired until enemies moved into the complex. As for the the flag situation, yes that is debatable, but as long as Estate was still in play we thought we'd stay to make a quick fullcap possible (Helicopter Base went neutral later, at that point we would have been supporting the team elsewhere of course).
I need to rewatch the whole thing but I'm pretty sure the first warning I've seen personally was visible only after the first two people had already been kicked. Anyway, I feel like this is a situation that could have been solved much better verbally.
So far we had always been very pleased with both the playerbase and the admins on HOG and pretty much always preferred it over CIA, but tonight was the first exception to that. As for Keios' ban - maybe he'll appeal that, I don't know.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Like Hurricane said, we are used to better Admins on the =HOG= Server, since both of us have been playing on it for a long time.
First of all, when i noticed that one of our Squad was outside and someone on the other team complained, i told him to get back inside the fortress. So we were not camping the Mainbase as a whole Squad and i as the SL of this mixture of five pubbers and two Clanmates did what can be expected to be done, when leading unknown players.
So what legitimates you to kick the whole Squad, when one guy i am not responsible for, makes one attack on one guy who's outside the Mainbase perimeter and got called back by me, beside the fact that you got admin rights on your clans server and seem to be eager to use your "power"?
A decent admin would have warned the Squad, in case he could not identify the player. A decent admin would have punished the player who is responsible if punishment was needed. Since there was no ongoing "baserape" at the time when you decided to kick everyone, your decision was uncalled for the situation.

good matches to everyone in al basrah/saaremaa/muttrah last night with that fob bug. instead of mass tk's in main, there were commander rally points, squads sticking on their medics, and not much complaining. massive skirmish rounds, until the restarts.

i am a firm believer in non spawnable fobs and no rallys. without them, teamwork seems to be more of a requirement. but, thats just me, glad you had a good time.dysin wrote:good matches to everyone in al basrah/saaremaa/muttrah last night with that fob bug. instead of mass tk's in main, there were commander rally points, squads sticking on their medics, and not much complaining. massive skirmish rounds, until the restarts.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
So, just to give you some insight into maps, mapvoting and admining:
I admined for a good few hours as the lone admin today, doing votes and everything else, so I had the time to try out some stuff and report back.
I did my very best to try and pick underplayed and less popular map. I put Jabal, Iron Ridge, Dragon Fly, Barracuda, etc in the vote. All I got was complaints: "zomg, worst maps evarrr", "wtf admin, terrible maps". I did this two rounds in a row, people kept complaining. So I selected a map without voting: Vadso City, which is, also, quite underplayed. "zomg admin, y no vote", "admin, vote please, round almost over", "!r mapvote", "!r mapvote".
So I picked Vadso without a vote and then Wanda Shan without a vote, since people will be bitching and moaning no matter what we do. Lesson learned: we'll keep doing what we're doing, it's impossible to please everyone, we'll mix it up between popular and less popular maps and we'll do the occasional no-vote where we decide on a map that would fit the next round.
Just some insights after a very stressful evening of admining by myself on a full server, for 4 hours on end. I need a break.

A message to all the players out there: let up on all the nagging. Enjoy the mod, the maps, and the diversity... as well as the hard work that's put into it from behind the scenes (as DEVs, CONs, Testers, Admins, etc.).
Thanks

"The loudest people are in the wrong most."
You really shouldn't bother much and just play the maps for the sake of variety and like AF said, the effort put into them. It's a good move that you'll keep it mixed between voting to please the lazy crowd and still give people the ability to enjoy rare pearls. Thumbs up.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Something that I have done in the past that I want to do again is reward the squads who are contributing to the game by letting them pick the maps for the mapvote. When tickets get low, I look at the squad with the most teamwork points and ask them to pick 3 maps (any layer, any game type) for the next mapvote.
This does a couple of things.. First it keeps the players we want in our server, in our server by letting them play the maps they like. Second, it gives incentive to players who like to just join a "free kit" or "sniper" squad and lone wolf (doing nothing to help the game or their team). Oddly enough these are generally the players who ***** about mapvotes too.

Re: =HOG= (North America)
Not the best method IMO. While some times you do pick out the right guys, the score often fools you. Especially on big assets maps I've seen squads end up top score just because they fortified a hilltop with all kinds of assets which were exactly of zero use to the team, as it was on the other side of the map seen from the flags.ecfelix wrote:This does a couple of things.. They called it "denying supply routes" while the team got steamrolled back to the bleeding flag.
The best way you can track that is by simply checking the map from time to time and see who is on the obj, who is doing support and who is fighting his imaginary war out in the desert.
