Why would you force people to create 2 seperate squads for wheeled and tracked apcs?

On Jabal today, we had 2 AAVs and LAV all in APC squad. Admin insisted to create another squad and seperate us. Everything was fine and no one was complaining but suddenly for some reason we were forced to waste another squad slot and have 2 people in the apc squad and 4 people in the tracked apc squad.

Why would you enforce such a rule? I do not see any sense behind this.

superr wrote:we are in process of a vote to change the APC squad rules.
the vote is for a rule change to combine ALL APCS to a "APC" squad, thereby freeing a squad up for other infantry or asset.

The vote is for PR players and you can go to our website and vote.

btw, the public players are what make HOG a great server, a big thank you to the community! This vote is in response to your opinions so go cast your vote!

The vote will end on Sunday May 11.
There is a vote on hogclangaming.com.
Current stand: 17 vote for 1 Squad for all APC / 4 against.

I like the idea of all apcs in one squad, unless there is a mech inf squad in which an apc and 6 inf guys are all in direct support of each other. That's the only part I would add to the rule.

Spook, that will change This Sunday, that rule was a test (change) from a previous asset rule, it ran its course and we now feel that having just APC is better and a vote is nearing its completion. Thanks for the input!

Rabbit, the rules are there to setup the basics. If the SL of the APCs wants to give all his apcs to infantry or one to squad x and another to squad t then so be it. So your idea would be ok, just get the apc SL to give you the vehicle etc.

As i posted on our forums in that vote thread, i think the APC;s should belong to the infantry but it would be hard to get people to do it right, wasting them, supporting them etc.

But, that kind of input is always welcome, keep it coming.

EDIT: Spook i just reread your post, ill find out who that was and discuss it with him. IF the asset squad leaders want to combine then they are allowed to.

Also, really? "banned you"? now that is an insult to me, you lied about what i did and you and OD-S Headless both came back into the server less then 5 minutes later, I will give you two a (+ point) tho, sins you both acted the way you should after you were kicked.

But again Let me fix that for you, - Last is a quote from you last night i believe, no idea what it means but thats what you said.

Now, if you feel that my actions were still wrong after you just lied about what I did, feel free to make a complaint on the HOG forums, or in a PM to myself or Super.

In my mind tho, it did what was right, when i was the only admin on with 99 other players, after 9 hours i was kinda running out of patience, which i'm sure you can understand.

Thank you for your time.
Hey dude,

sorry I was drunk that night and didn't realize my mic was not enabled. I apologize for the assholery. SL was trying to talk to me each time I joined, but my mic wasn't enabled; however, my douchiness and drunkedness were. I apologize. I look forward to playing with you all again.

This is more aimed at the people who play on hog, not the admins... Stacking may be fun for a round or two, but you're gonna end up with a dying server. If what happened today was the norm, I would give up on PR entirely.

If at all possible, could the admins try to avoid these kind of situations, it makes for completely unbalanced games and most of the 'other' team quitting.

This wasn't an isolated round, the one before was the same.

I'm really surprised that prWARs didn't even that out tbh, they are usually really good when it comes to clan stacking, thank you for bringing it to our attention :)

im aiming it at the admins, they are supposed to be handling out of balance teams as part of their duties.

As Voted, the following asset rules have been changed effective immediately on both of our servers.

Tracked APC and Wheeled APC's are to be combined with a minimum of 6 squad members before being locked and must be named APC, this squad will encompass ALL Armored Pers. Carriers, IFV's are to be in the APC squad as well to free up a squad spot.

thanks for the input from all pr players!

How can players distinguish what is an IFV and what is an APC? Gun size?
Bradley is IFV.
BMP-3/2/1 is IFV.
Puma ATGM is IFV.

Thumbrule. Everything above 14.5mm armament (BTR cannon) is IFV, anything on pair, or below is APC (aka battle taxi).

That is probably the worst definition I've come across yet, to say nothing of it's validity. Why do each server has to make it's own definition of something and not simply refer to things as they are? It causes unnecessary confusion, if you already don't want to address IFVs properly just leave them be and use the universally accepted PR term APC, or "armor" in general.

So... A Scorpion is an IFV then. Some argue it is a tank. Some servers require Tank squad for them. What else is an IFV then? Can't think of any vehicles.

Wikipedia:
The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe defines infantry fighting vehicle as "an armoured combat vehicle which is designed and equipped primarily to transport a combat infantry squad, which is armed with an integral or organic cannon of at least 20 millimeters calibre and sometimes an antitank missile launcher."

The Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe defines armoured personnel carriers as "an armoured combat vehicle which is designed and equipped to transport a combat infantry squad and which, as a rule, is armed with an integral or organic weapon of less than 20 millimeters calibre."

I suggest you get rid of the difference between APC/IFV completely and have just 1 APC/IFV squad. Lockable with 6 players. You never need more than 2 APC + 1 IFV on the field at a time anyways.

Yeah, tbh everything that isn't a MBT, should just be in the APC squad
Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera
