No Helicopter rotor collision, it break's my PR

Yo lads
Anyway i had an annoying round yesterday,
In short, that darn attack huey pilot drives that thing like a car in the streets and avoids all incoming fire that way, me being on top of a building start to shoot at him and of course he turns, climbs a little bit of altitude and "wooosh" i suddenly find myself somewhere outside of the map after that
Its really frustrating that helicopters can fly in such a dumb way thx to the "no rotor collision".
I remember that discussion a while back but cant find it.
So why was it never implemented, aside from the obvious "OMG My huey cant land in the middle of a forest, you broke my PR !!!!"

iirc there were some experiments with it and it was abandoned due to some kind of lag issue it brought in, though I to would like to see this feature, it would make usable LZs in urban areas a very important strategic object

if im not wrong the cobra in vBF2 has rotor collision, i remember when i would get close to a wall with it, would spin and explode

Don't the rotors on the Cow have a collision mesh...?

Nope, no choppers at all have collision.

we are working on something like this for the future, but its quite a huge amount of work to edit all the helis collision meshes

I thought it caused problems with surroundings. Much like the barrel does on the tanks. You'll flip and roll all over the place if that is included on the rotors.

In real life a pilot can look outside the window to see where the rotor ends, you can't do that in PR. At least not without trackIR being implemented.
Also implement fastropes while at it to make urban ladnings more realistic.
This is the same as rifle collisions in my opinion, too many engine limitations to make it viable.

It would be like driving a different sized car; you'd get the hang of the size w/o having to look.

No more street flying

, no more forest flying but I guess it would change the gameplay for the better, like the dev said finding strategic LZ's becomes a must. People don't think about us pilots enough when asking for transport and it sometimes ends up in a very tight landing spot between trees or buildings that is hard to do and failure will ofcourse be the pilots fault.

I think people would just camp those LZ's.

Remember on Kokan in the blackhawk, I was flying like a pro before going in for a landing and suddenly flipping the thing sideways...
You all yelled at me, what you should of been doing was cursing the Devs names!

When someone says Pro I worry.

I myself want the collisions for the rotors to be implemented to stop the heli pilots from flying through the city like their in a cadilac, which is really unrealistic, be they friendly pilots or the enemy's
As a pilot you need to decide what landing zone would be acceptable, and if not the pilot then the copilot.
There are some minimum realistic things that have to be implemented be they good or bad.
The rotor collision would be one of those, for example, it would hinder huey pilots to drop a full load of soldiers in the middle of a city full of enemy.
That may piss the US side but you have no idea how much the MEC get pissed off when they see huey's flying through the streets like cadilacs at the speed of 120 KM/H without being shot at just because there is no rotor collision =D

Its like the new medic self healing change. You can do without it, but its very welcome and realistic.

How is that realistic? Why should a medic not be able to heal him self?

When do you see Medics healing themselves in real life...
*medic got shot*
OOPS LOOKS LIKE I'LL JUST WORK ON MYSELF INSTEAD OF GETTING BACK TO BASE!
DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME LADS I GOT IT! *gets shot again and is dead*
OH NOES!!!
I like this change.

I'm sorry, did I accidentally rename this thread to 'medic feedback thread'?
no
continue talking about rotor collisions or don't post in this thread

Sry bout that I just wanted to reply to Mora, anyways I too would love to see Rotor collision implemented, it would stop pilots ENTIRELY from imminently going in an urban environment where buildings can actually stop rotors dead in their tracks.

Cant this be exploited? Like flying very close to the ground sweeping enemy INF with rotor blades.
And helis landing on carrier. Its already tight in there, imagine 5 choppers landing/taking off constantly. Yep, eventually the blades will hit something.
But still 1+ for this, will make the game even more realistic.
