What to call squad leaders when they have tricky names??

Okay, so i was playing on a server(don't remember which) and the squad leader had this tricky name something like [sre374poloty or something, THEN comes the question. what to you guys call the squad leader if he/her/IT has a tricky name? I just call them sarge

i use a short ver of their name.
eg mine could be kill, or sight or killon
or just call him squad leader?

I call them "Squad Leader". I am actually serious. And I think that calling your SL "Squad Leader" gives a better sense of authority to the SL (I've been on both ends of the situation), and thus help squad cohesion.
Once there was this guy who kept calling me "boss"... felt so weird lol!
I am honest when I say that I believe calling your SL "Squad Leader" is the best thing you can do. It shows respect, and in turn you are respected back. It is amazing how some people just can't figure this out in game.
For some reason, I tend to trust more the SMs who address me as "Squad Leader" the moment they join the squad rather than "Bill" (or, as some people have tried to say, "bissils" XD). This is not a super-hardcore mentality. It is really a weird fact, and that is why I highly suggest you address your SL by "Squad Leader" rather than his name (unless he tells you to do so... in which case you will hear how to pronounce it!).
I have never been called "sarge"... should be cool! But as I said, I was once called "boss" (which is not really related to sarge in any way, other than the fact that both are treatment nouns), and it didn't feel quite right lol!

Little offtopic, but it's good practice when playing with unknowns to speak in third person when asking for medic and spotting targets. "I need a medic" when spoken trough voip is the most annoying thing ever.

Squaddie, Boss, Chief
I wouldn't worry about messing up their names too much... I get called noogie, noodle, noodie only the last one worries me somewhat as I always check to see if my uniform has not textured and I am actually nude (jokes)

That's so funny... I was going to post "An Aussie guy I played with called me "squaddie"" - I guess it's more widespread than just him.
Sergeant is good, squaddie works, but to me it evokes "squad member" rather than squad leader...
But as goguapsy say, "Squad Leader" and "Commander" are probably the best. Sergeant/Lieutenant would be the correct ranks for a squad leader/platoon commander (as far as USMC ranks go)

I call the Squad leader "squad leader" regardless of his name, but mainly because I'm new. I've found that if you say things out loud, such as "contacts at 185" or other important things, then the squad leader will usually act.

Most of the time i call them squad-leader unless if there name is really obvious and cant be mistaken.
I also call the medic ....medic...
The commander ...commander... or CO
I only do it to keep things as simple as possible, and easy to understand for everyone.
If whoever Im talking to ignores me the first time ill try with his name 2nd

i always call my SL "squadlead" unless they have an easy to pronounce name. the more i read this thread the weirder it sounds

Quoted for the truth. It's a bit quicker and a bit less formal. I use it whenever SL is not overly strict.

Just call them Squad leader? It's a start... if you're that inclined to call them by name, ask them how to pronounce it.
