Joystick issues

Sorry to ask for help again

I have the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick. I have calibrated and tested and all is perfectly fine and in working order, however, when i try to set it up in the helicopter/ aircraft controls settings in PR it wont register.

a little frustrating as i would like to become efficient in chopper flight primarily and looking to get a fair few hours in on solo servers to practice.

Once again, any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Loving the game again btw :)

Occasionally BF2 wont let me set my controls either.

Reset your controls to default, then you may be able to set your joystick up. Set up your joystick controls first, right after setting to default, then do the rest.

I hope this works for you too.

If that does not work.

Delete all current controls to aircraft/helicopters in the Options/controls. That is what I had to to fist time.

Since all controls are default, you should change the key of control all by yourself in setting-control-aircraft(helicopter).

PS:Using joystick to play PR:Aircraft-great!!!! helicopter-suicide!!!!
one more thing Coolie Hat can be used in PR or BF2,but you need download a software to active this function, sadly i dont know it's name, and i dont have it now~

Oh I remember, you have to delete all FALCON controls to be able to input joystick controls for some reason. Don't ask me... send your WTF looks @ dice :)

What seems to be the problem? I have same lolstick and it works fine in both jets and choppers.
Install drivers from Logitech site, start PR, assign sliders and buttons, profit?

O M G , that Logitech Joystick Extreme 3D Pro is too awesome to fly with... If you got Win 7 you even don't need to install any driver from disk at all. It's going automatically via internet. You don't need any extra software.
It is aaaawesome to fly choppers with Joystick, as you can set the throttle to ~ 22 % and your gunner can rape 'em (the enemies) all... with keyboard you f*ckin have to type "W" again and over again to TRY to hold the flightlevel...

i allow the engines to warm up for 30 seconds as required, increase the throttle and no more than 50 feet in the air, without touching the stick itself i roll , usually right but it can also be left and I am unable to counter it, causing a very annoying plummet to the earth. :o ops:

as i origanally stated I have calibrated the joystick and just cant figure out what is happening.

also on searching for drivers on the logitech site, I came across a post where one of the logitech support staff stated these controllers are self supporting and there for no drivers exist for download , which i thought was very odd.

Have you downloaded the Logitech Gaming software or w/e it's called? There's panel which allows you to look at the throttle angles, stick angles etc. where the PC sees them positioned.
Do you have other Logitech stuff connected example steering wheel?

I just forget to tell you,Using Joystick drive helo is suicide in low attitude ,it's hard to make a turn in city,or you will crash when you want a turn, just using mouse and keyboard is great enough!!!catfight???i never tried, but i feel my helicopter get unstable, and my gunner tell me he cant aim........
Joystick in dogfight, awesome!!Too much advantages!!i remember once i used A-10 and shoot down all MEC jets with joystick(although it's dead now, :-( )
But you may should try this in coop frist, you can experience how hard to control a helo with joystick and how great to shoot enemy down in a jet!

Hope my experience can help and welcome join our pilot grounp~~!

PS:Hope you can understand my poor English too!

Yeah Crimson, get the Logitech Gaming Software to check whether the Joystick has a malfunction.
And Jolly, after you practised a bit, you can fly awesome maneuvers and turns with any chopper...

I disagree with that... I believe joysticks are equally comparable in all flying scenarios (except hovering in atk choppers but as that is a rather minor issue I don't think the difference is meaningful).

Joystick
When you fly helo such as kiowa,it will move slightly up itslef, using a joystick to control is hard for me,when i am in a low attitude.if i use that,i wont let my chopper below 50m.Since i dont have a awesome joystick(A made in china one cost just 100 chinese dollar),so i made such conclusion.

PS :O ur gov block off everything from Youtube.......I cant see anything...............Maybe it's a awesome one!

To the OP.

On XP, the Logitech Extreme 3D auto-calibrates, there is nothing you can do manually from standard software. If it is mis-calibrated once it stays this way. Therefore you need to go through some hoola-hoops.

1. Unplug the joystick.
2. Go hereGadgets
3a. Download the Clear Calibration Utility.
3b. Optionally download the DxTweak2 utility for calibration checking and changing various settings.
4. Run the Clear Calibration Utility.
5. Plug-in the joystick.
6. Move the joystick to all possible extreme positions for calibration.
7. Check with DxTweak2 that it is calibrated correctly and centered. Repeat steps 1,5,6,7 if necessary.

If in DxTweak 2 the slider indications keep jumping or don't go smooth constantly, then you should either go back to the seller or repair it yourself. The quality of the joystick is very bad, cheap pot-meters and lots of plastic inside so be careful not to break anything. Especially the rudder and handle itself can take some nerves to take apart and put back together again.
So overall don't expect wonders, the joystick is a piece of ....!
