Hey guys,

First off, I searched a bit for the different error types and none of the cases I found described the problem...
So if there is a thread about it, please parse a link and don't stone me to death!

Second, the problem is on my friends machine, therefore I have limited insights.
I saw it a couple of times though but don't have the slightest idea what could be wrong.


PROBLEM
- After a while (~ 1-4 hours) he gets multiple errors rendering the game unplayable
until restart (game or PC)
- He can't type in chat (mostly nothing at all, sometimes only ? and/or only every 5th-10th
letter/symbol he wants to type)
- The game freezes up from time to time (like 2-10 seconds)
- The game starts making Beeping noises when he presses and holds down a button
(for instance when he holds WASD to walk; he said sometimes it helps pressing the
spacebar repeatedly; often enough he has to press multiple buttons at once to barely be
able to walk around and such)
- It seems to appear quicker on some servers than others, especially on PRTA
- The errors don't give him a CTD or errors message - he could "play" for hours with it.

System specifications
- Phenom II X4 955
- HD 6870
- 4GB RAM (Win7 registers all 4 GB)
- Gigabyte Mainboard (don't know exact values - if needed I'll update)

- Game runs smooth as liquid until the errors occur
- Most maps I have the usual framedrops while looking in certain directions - he doesn't


If you have any idea what to do about it please guide us in the right direction. We reinstalled PR already without any improvement. I keep telling him to give his machine a complete overhaul and just set it up new again but you know...lots of work.
You can imagine how awful these errors are while mid-game. Last night we were harassing Russians in a techi, when I got shot on the driver seat he could barely get the techi to safety because his game kept on lagging, freezing and beeping as soon as he pressed "W" to go forward...I could tell you a thousand stories where we got fucked up cause to those bugs.

So, any help is highly appreciated, thanks for the time reading into the problem,
and thanks to everyone making this the most addictive game in the world.

Everything except the freezing can be explained by windows IME language bar. I'm guessing he uses IME to switch between english and german characters?

The exact same symptoms are exhibited on my computers that I use IME on for Japanese charaters. Most default settings have ctrl+shift as change to different langauge, and ctrl+capslock as change character sets, both of which are pressed in conjunction while playing PR.

This issue confused me a LOT for a long time, but what tipped me off was the fact that I couldn't type sometimes but other times I could. I wondered what had changed from a few months back when I had zero problems. The only thing was that I had started learning Japanese and had enabled IME on my computer.

If this is not the case for your friend, it is insanely close in the symptoms... so I wouldn't know what else could cause that (unless he uses a different method for software-based keyboard characterset switching, which could equally screw with it).

He had several, for him totally unnecessary languages installed for some reason.
There was Korean, Japanese, etc.
Since he is a German not speaking/using any other languages than English and Spanish we just disabled the hotkeys for switching them in the appropriate control panel section.

A test if the issues are fixed is yet to be done...guess in a couple of hours i know more on that behalf

For now, thanks for the answer, I just so hope this helps so that we can pawn again without thinking about the "technical weather" (as one of the forums once brilliantly described it - whoever knows who I mean gets an e-cookie).

UPDATE
Played all night long for about 8 hours! without any issues. Even the freezes are gone!
