FPS issue(Not sure: BF2 or General Tech :()

Anyways, this is my rig:
CPU:AMD Phenom II X4 B40 Processor 3.00GHZ
RAM:4 Gigs DDR3
Windows 7 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce 250gts
I for some dumb reason, I cannot get more than 40 frames(I say 40 because only on Asad Khal, I get that frames, but even then it will drop down to 10...)
On literally every map, I cannot run it well, I run med/high graphics, 1680x1050@60Hz I feel as if I must set my graphics maxed, because if I go everything medium or low, I get lower frames, and yet, when I set AA to 4(ingame not through the Nvidia Control Panel) I get a boost of frames also, but it is still not enough, my dads pc has a rig that blows every game out today out of the water(dual ATI Radeon 5770's, 6 core CPU, not sure on the details, 6 or 8 gigs ddr3, can't remember, and he drops to 15 on every setting, and that's a constant, doesn't go up.
Anyways, back to my rig, I also am running Windows 7 64 bit, when I run the game in a local server, the map runs perfectly fine, but multiplayer, or coop, forget about it, Fallujah and Korgenal Valley, I just can't play it anymore, I am planning on getting a new video card soon, probably a single 5770, or crossfire, or stay Nvidia and get a card that won't break the bank, but anyways, any help would greatly be appreciated(I can even run Arma2 :O A better at some points, but then again, im running on all low XD(20 frames, haha not so good eh?)

GTS is really not the best.
What does that mean gt,gtx,gto,xt,x
I too found that changing settings in BF2 did not really change performance. (Except for lowering AA and resolution).
What you could do is get driver updates, standard "Windows Update" drivers are not optimized for performance afaik.
Defragmenting your hard drive might also give you a performance boost.
You should look into guides on how to tweak the performance.

I actually have, Game booster helped with my driver crashing on Arma2/oa but I can only get 10-20 fps at low settings with the teture resolution at 80, Im thinking about getting a 5770 but not sure if I should just wait till price drops or whatnot, I most likely(90%) sure that I will NOT be buying Battlefield 3, mainly because it's gameplay is consolized to death, and I'll just be sticking to Arma2/PR in the long run

Double post, but will a nvidia fermie 560 do the trick? Will it also run Arma2?

No need to upgrade from 250gts when it comes to BF2

R. I am pretty sure atm the game uses only about 50% of the gpu power anyways. Upgrading to 560 means that it will be using only 10% of the gpu without any effect on the FPS.
Anyway, on some maps the fps stays low no matter what you do. It is about the maps not about ur rig.
PR is badly optimized when it comes to some maps. Try defragmenting and OC the cpu, u should get solid 60 in some maps, i think...

Then how come others run the maps REALLY well?

Usually perception... they just think it runs ok, when you have a higher standard thinking it should to better.

Or it might perhaps be some driver issue?
Use Fraps/playclaw to monitor the FPS/cpu/gpu usage to see what happens in-game.
It might even be that a tiny bit more OC would alleviate the issue.
I've so far seen in this forum just 1 guy who sais that he solved the FPS for good. And his "solution" was OCed SB.

Thats PR for you. OC your CPU and you shall see a performane gain. Remember that this is a single core game. Game booster is alright but bet you 20 evntvwr is going crazy in the background. Anyways, I upgraded from Superclocked GT240( i was matching an 8800 in most games) to a GTX 460. 5 fps gain on average on most maps. It just doesn't use that much GPU power. AS for AA, i have no difference between no AA and 4AA. Tis normal. All these new cards like high resolutions and have plenty of memory. i know a guy Using a single Anthlon 64 chip and 2 6800 Ultras in SLI and he gets better frame rates than me and guys packing 470's and such.

hmm, well so far I also had an nvidia 8800 gts, didn't do it for me, then this 250gts, which isn't performing, so I might switch back to ATI since I had no problems with their cards, either the 5770, or the 5870, but how would I OC my CPU? would I even need to since it's a quad core?

Your CPU is fine!
Dont think about Overclocking it, you will need good cooling for this if you have'nt already.
Before spending money, why not try a re-install of windows. Install all drivers upto date and then try again with PR.
Its abit of ball ache but might work for you, A re-install of windows is a god for me when somthing is going wrong.

I would reinstall windows, but the problem is that my dad has my copy of Windows 7, and everything that I need is at his house, which is in another city, damn parental divorcing lol, thank god I have my own copy of BF2/Arma2 lol(He doesn't play Arma yet lol)
