Helos in pr

Can you make the helos on coop the same as in deploy? Kinda hard when the coop ones goes 5mph, then in deployment they go mach 5 and you kill your whole squad. How can you even train them? I am an expert pilot, but in deploy, wow.

P.S. I know I will get bashed, but anyone who replies and thinks they handle/fly the same can shove it.

Then your not expert pilot.

PS For me no problem, you just need to practice(more).
PS2 On every COOP you can find two kind of chopers normal, and for bots.

The bots can't handle helos if they act like the real ones.

I'd suggest starting a LAN deployment server and practicing there, if you can't find the regular choppers on co-op.

There's also at least one flight training server online.

Well, the flight mechanics on BF2 don't really match real world behaviour of aircraft anyway. Try flying Choppers in PR, then swap to ArmA2 and you'll see what i mean...

Go on the Merk server, it's great for learning to fly helis and jets. :)

I love it when posts include a little over-defensive comment like this...

afaik both 'normal' and 'bot' choppers are on COOP, you even get a message when getting into a bot chopper iirc. Non-bot choppers are identical to the normal varieties

I'd suggest loading up deploy server locally or searching for a training server. (PR should have just 1 official map designed for flight training)

In any case, PR helos do not behave like real ones and I've found that a lot of seasoned pilots (IRL) have a hard time unlearning their training and relearning it for the game. Personally, if possible, I'd love to see the Helos under go some drastic recoding.

Some tips, training wheel helos can be the 'medium sized' ones that go relatively slow. These are the Russian/Chinese/MEC ones, maybe the BlackHawk but I find that one to a more advanced one. However, if you master the Huey you'll have almost all the experience you'll need.

The 'Dive' is the best way to land... there is almost no chance of descending from a medium hover... throttle is misleading and if you use a real throttle (not a button) 20-25% will give you the best hover.

Unless it changed from .957 to .966, jumping in a bot helo will blackscreen you, tell you NO DOGS ALLOWED, and then kill you.

Also: If you see [PiCE] Urgent Insurgency on the server list (I am rebuilding it, but it's up right now anyway) - feel free to join and practice flying, the maps are messed up but the helicopters on Muttrah work fine.

load up in local and follow this guide: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-p ... mands.html

from step 3 onwards, all the rest before hand is for online servers.

I?m sorry but the arma2 choppers and planes doesn?t match the real thing also :-D . I would suggest flying something like blackshark to have an aprox feel.

I give you a cookie good sir, I had to re-train myself to fly helicopters in Arma2 XD

Personally I think that the arma helis are just as unrealistic as the BF2 ones, but tbh I've only had a couple of hours flying the real thing :P

akc on topic, I've never noticed a difference between the player helis in coop and the helis in deployment.

Learn how to use it.

With the technological advances we have seen over the last 25 years, it's fair to say that the average, modern-day helicopter will probably cruise somewhere between 120 knots (222kph / 138mph) and 140 knots (260kph / 161mph).

The arma choppers have one thing that make them much more realistic than PR and that is momentum. In PR you can do a 180 with a chopper in a second. Think about the chinook and how gracefully it flys in the skies of PR :D In reality even if you managed to turn the chopper so fast it would be still moving into the direction you were headed to for a little longer, unless it's a supa dupa light & powerful chopper.

Deebo, start up a local server where you can spawn as many choppers as you like. Also Rhino's testing map is great for any aircraft testing and training:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f354-community-maps/100848-map-test-airfield-4km-released.html

Alas, real experience can only be acquired in-game. I got my chopper skills honed to near perfection  back in the good ol' days on Training -mode, where instead of bots there were just other players messing around, trying new stuff etc. usually on Kashan Desert. It was good practice and good fun, although more than sometimes baserapers and griefers took over and took the fun out of it, then it just became a battle against them. Got to admit, that was good practice too. But the real deal like landing on the tightest of alleyways or rooftops on Muttrah City with the Huey, actually picking up or dropping of troops, going for lazer targets etc. is not always so straight forward as one might think, there's more to it than just flying the thing.

I actually find ArmA 2's choppers easier to fly than Battlefield 2's. No insane acceleration.

Yeah, ArmA II's are pretty easy to fly, got used to them after 10 minutes.

Bf2 choppers gain altitude far to quickly

not always, sometimes they (at least the huey) seem to be bugged and can barely climb the first few minutes after take off
