Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I want as much people to read this as possible.

PR players seem to have the common misconception that only words such as "nigger", "spic", and general derogatory terms towards blacks and Hispanics are racist.

Play any Insurgency game, and there will always be "Allah will bless us" and "Die for Allah", mocking Islam and it's believers. Hadjis?

Played a game on Tactical Gamer the other day, arguably the flagship PR server. We were playing Kwai River, someone said something along the lines of "Those chinks sure are giving us a hard time" and only got a sarcastic remark from an admin.

Just my two cents, I'm not a Chinese Muslim, but I'm sick of double standards in this game.

Last time I checked, "Muslim" is not a race.

As for your comments on the use of the word chink; very justified. I will not longer use such a term.

I am a Chinese non-muslim and I type "Allah Akbar" after blowing up BluFor vehicles/squads with RPG/littleRed/Gary/BigRed to mock the other team, not muslims.

That aside, I believe the problem comes up when there is a lack of ACTUAL chinese playing on Chinese team.

Then again, we never had such insults towards the other side when playing on all Chinese servers.

Also, someone who says "Those chinks sure are giving us a hard time"is homo...XD

People who use racial slurs get kicked from my squad, I've reported a number of players to admins on this issue. Though i confess I've not reported anyone for the 'allah' stuff; I don't support it but I don't think its on the same level as the other words you mention, the Jew stuff that comes up ingame is something that always angers me and ruins my playtime.

Its just for the moment of the game, its not like we have some personal issues with muslims or etc. I sometimes name my squad Durka Durka or Muhammad Jihad, but thats just reference and for fun if im insurgent, or if Russian free vodka

I think, McDonald's or Cheezburgerz is the win squad name for US side.
Its all about the world known stereotypes, thats what it comes down to.

I prefer the very descriptive LOLIBAN squad name...

First off, it leads with LOL so you know its not a serious squad or anything... and secondly it implies terror through LOLing... as in, standing on or around the AAV on Fallujah with a whole squad of civis and then pummeling the driver to death with rocks when he gets out to try to arrest us.... or throwing a rope up a building and deliberately getting the enemy to chase us up the rope and the pull it out from under them at the last second.

I admit I use the slightly racist squad name "Towel Hunter" if I'm on BluFor on an insurgent map... it basically implies EXACTLY the goal of the squad, and this isn't to be in an AAV or go cache hunting or defending... we are actively roaming the streets and shooting anything wearing a towel on its head.

Although I do admit to a couple flat-out racist squad names... like Camel-Theives and Kill Achmed on insurgency... and one time I was on the Chinese side of Qwai river and I named my squad "Math & Rice". I did make ONE jew joke in a squad name once... and thats when I named my squad "Kosher Bacon"

Ultimately, I think the names should be allowed to stay, because this is the first game I've ever seen where you can have that freedom of speech and not get instantly permabanned by some self-righteous bible thumping server admin.

I do that too. If you're going to use racial slurs, switch teams so my squads can ruin your fun.

Unfortunately, I think the title needs changing. Something along the lines of "Racial Slurs and You: A Guide to not being a racist"

Eh, it's a game. I don't get annoyed or angered by it. I just ignore it.

Do I like when people use derogatory language? No. Will I report it? No.

You know, I remember a discussion about using Allah in-game. It all boiled down to Allah=God (literally) so no one would be pissed if you said "God Akbar!" or "God Snackbar!" or whatnot.

i LOVE playing chinese team! (chinese canadian here) Also i dont mind being called a chink, it's not offensive unless it's meant to be offensive for that specific case. i.e "Those damn cheap chinks!" vs "them chinks are really pushing hard on this flag!"

i dont see what the big deal is in the specific example op pointed out.

humorous use of terms should be allowed. it's when there's hate linked to the particular phrase you use when it becomes racist. at any other time it's just friendly banter. sort of like how i always call my caucasian friends silly white boys when i take them out for asian foods and they feel the need to use chopsticks like everyone else in the room and fail horribly.

I'm not touching this one.

i don't mind saying allah akcbar as playing as insurgents but i find snackbar thingy is rascist for muslims

Saying the N word is banned on the forums, people get infracted for posting the well known spiderman pic.

I'm with Rudd on this one, any type of slur detracts from the game needlessly, the most annoying one is when an American just goes on and on about 'killing them hadjis' even though they aren't even familiar with the word.
