That is simple question: why does the crewman kit contain shovel? Is it just a bug or tankers really use them to dig a trench for the tank? Because I've always thought that'll be too hard for them to dig such a big hole, and there's someone else doing this for them, or just helping them.

if they are getting stuck in the mud for example

gotta cover their bathroom business somehow.

Squad leaders make the grunts cover theirs.

poor medics just have field dressings to cover theirs.

Snipers just leave the big stinky pile wherever they go.

yes yes mud is a horrible thing :L especially in PR i HATE getting my truck stuck in the mud . .

can the shovel move rocks out of the vehicles way?

In a gameplay perspective, basically it's the shovel-less kit's quick exchange for a shovel that the enemy can't use.


they didn't add a shovel because they might have one IRL. Or else where's the MRE's? Marlboros?


Otherwise, this is kind of a useless topic. How would it be a bug for crewmen to have a shovel? It's not like you can actually use a shovel to build a trench for armor anyway.

I asked cause I was going to suggest removing that shovel when they finally open the suggestions forum, and I thought the shovel's presence in crewman kit is somehow justified.

Why take it away? It's not unrealistic for a crewman to somehow be able to get a shovel. The only kits that don't have shovels are kits that have other stuff in that slot or really, really shouldn't have one (and for regular forces, that's only the pilot. Other kits without shovel, like medic and officer, simply have a full inventory already).

It's as basic as the field dressing and knife. Every kit has it, except for those that are too full - and the pilot, who, btw, doesn't have a knife either iirc.

Removing the shovel from the crewmen won't change or fix anything, besides make an annoyance.


There are other issues that need to be fixed.

It's justified anyway, pretty much every armored vehicle has tools (inc. shovels) on or in it.

The issue is that squadleaders often swap their kits for the crewman, to help their grunts dig something (especially when there are only 2 or 3 of them). That ain't so realistic, is it?

Indeed they can, but I'm always seeing them using the crewman kit, not any other which is weird. I don't know why they do that, but they do.

Because Rifleman wasn't requestable until quite recently, so people requested the only other unlimited kit with a shovel: Crewman. Some got used to it to the point of forgetting about the Rifleman.

Fobs=crates. Crates=a bunch of free kits scattered around.

So, what's the point of removing them?

The point is the shovel is unuseful and never used by crewmen, but very often used by squadleaders who want to dig something up.
