Joysticks and deadzones on Win7. (How) does it work?

Hey everyone,

i'm going to buy a new joystick, since my MS Precision Pro is kind of worn out after ~10 years. In BF / PR, i couldn't really use this one, as I couldn't set up a deadzone, neither inside BF, nor in windows (tools such as DXtweak, DIview or JoyToKey didn't work for deadzone setup in Win7).

I was going to buy a T-Flight X, gut one question remains:
Does this stick (or any of the current "affordable" sticks) come with software that can setup (and save!) deadzones etc. on Win7?

Logitech 942-000005 Extreme 3D Pro Joystick

This is the joystick I have, and cost ?30, and has deadzone saving ability, even for different games.

As I understood it, permanently setting up deadzones does only work up to Win XP (due to some unresolvable issue with DirectInput). Vista already seems to suppress permanent deadzone setup..
Are you running Vista and can you permanently setup deadzones with your stick's software?

I'm also interested in an answer. I'd love to fly more often in PR but I can't be bothered with setting up a deadzone using a xbox 360 controller each time before i open PR.
