Unknown name different treatment.

Last night I logged on to my standard server accidentally with a nickname I never use on PR - it was interesting to say the least.
I got kicked from squads twice without a word - I was even TKed for a logy (I am an admin on the server - so I could see the funny side).
I found myself wondering if a new player gets the same treatment he's not going to hang about long me thinks.
It reminded me that we must all try to be welcoming to new or unknown players as long as they're serious and equipped with a mic/mumble and so on.

Kind of a pity that this still happens in Project Reality.
Honestly, I'd fault the server administrators on this one. It should be made really very clear that this sort of attitude has no place, and anyone that wants to pursue it should find another game to play.

What do you mean with
"a nickname I never use on PR", it's not that all players know all the other players out of their head, or was it some ridiculous name like

Well, Ploddit is pretty well known on PRTA and other servers

Were you acting like you were new? New players who obviously didn't make the effort to research the game and then come in expecting to have a good time are often the brunt of deliberate teamkills or kicking from squads. I kick new players regularly if they can't demonstrate common sense or are ruining the flow of the rest of the squad.
Why should experienced or veteran players suffer due to the incompetence of someone new?

Because "suffering" through with new players one round, and teaching them, reduces the time they are noobs. You can also stop them from doing stupid shit, taking assets and whatnot and destroying them.
Put it this way. What would you rather have? A two new guys in your squad or two new guys wasting assets?

It's not "kick the new player" Ploddit is talking about, I don't think. I'm pretty sure it's "kick the person we don't know", of which the root problem is elitism or the inability to play with people who you don't know. Some SLs just either aren't experienced enough or can't be arsed to play with new players, which I suppose I can understand, but I don't think that's the subject at hand here, really.

One SL I know just insta kicked without a word (wanted to lone wolf snipe), another guy did the same as I assume he wanted to APC with his mate. Each time without a word was the annoying bit, at least if someone takes two seconds to explain why that's better.
I was my normal self no noobing about or anything - just imagining trying my first online PR experience like that.
Why should experienced or veteran players suffer due to the incompetence of someone new?
As the existing playerbase go to other games or due to life play less we need a constant influx of new decent players to keep PR alive with a few servers filled.
On PRTA at peak times because of checking mumble I would say I am familiar with as many as 75-80% of the players there and have played at some time with most of them. (One thing I like about PR's relatively small regular playerbase)

@Startrekern ; you're right, elitism is what makes the game stupid, even on the forums you have them. People think that they have more right to take an assets if they're a clan-member or play PR longer than others, it's just horrible.

Welcome to what they call "Life". If you do not have a name, or friends with a name, you're a nobody. Face it.

I do this myself sometimes. It's very entertaining, although I can't use my mic as people end up recognizing me.

Hi, i play for like 4 months now, so my "Noobi experience" is fresh in my mind. I have to say when i started, i didnt like play for Weeks in one Go. I needed some breaks from the game like holidays..
Sometimes people were REALLY rude. Many people dont even consider you are new to the game when you fuck something up. Some really believe you TK't, failed or flipped on purpose. So yeah, these people are there. And yes i played for hours on hours in CoOp, learned many things. But you guys have to consider, playing vs Bots is very boring over time. They are just not human and they will never play like Humans in PR. (EVEN IN COOP PEOPLE ARE SOMETIMES RUDE TO NOOBS!

)
But i made other experiences as well, some people really took their time to help me understand the game and the tactics better. These people made the game shine for me and are probably the reason iam still here. (Because if you dont know and understand the game it can really suck!)
I remember my first few rounds with real good squad leaders. I just told them i was a noob, they gave me a Rifleman kit and told me to stick with them. It was soo much fun, suddenly with some guidance i wasnt so noob anymore. PR is in its core still a shooter and an old gamer might still shine despite all the details he might not know.
Now beeing there recently, i have a built in noob detector. This really helps too. If you understand what a noob might not know, you can quickly tell things like "No dont sprint, they can here you" "Remember to aim a moment before you shoot" (When they hit nothing! ;D) "We are all dead, look for the Medic kid, its there on the marker and then do the following..."
Sorry for my bad english.
IG Name: ApoNOOB <-- see what i did there? I put a warning in my name to deter people from hating on me! :O )
PS: Yesterday on PRTA was really fun =)

I have never joined a clan since bf2 came out....my last clan was in bf1942.
Most of the time I don't get any trouble being a random guy on a random server, but it is very frustrating to see squad names with clan tags that are locked. Of course if people join clans it is because they want to play together, but putting yourself in a glass jar and ignoring that your group might be interesting to other aspiring players is kinda bad. Besides I have rarely seen 1 pure clan squad rule the server..... but when I see 4 squads with the same clan tag as Squad-leader, then it is going somewhere. Cooperation on the wider range with your best mate makes more sense in PR to me than 1 elite squad owning 1 grid on the map.
1 pure clan squad will never beat 32 enemy's that have several good squad-leaders.

Same thing aways happen in China,But it's better now,Only if the sq member dont listen to the squad Leader, that member will be kicked Those non-coorperate SL(Lead squad with lots of sniper kit, hat,LAT,etc NEVER CLOSE TO FLAG),they gotta kicked by admin.
But different nickname might cause some other problem,In Chinese server,if you saw a man of unknown wanna drive a jet,you will have a though:He is a Newbie or really a dumbass???Then you will type :X XXX do you know how to deal with this????if this guy crashed jet within 10 mins, he will be kicked.
In Chinese community,we saw too much misunderstanding, because PR is not easy to handle with.........
PS:Why some of guys come to Chinese server say:Chinese ppl are racism??Cause few of us speak English???

Hah, well, many times I've refrained form kicking someon I didn't know to make place for someone I did, because that uknown person was doing his job alright.
That being said, I have never been kicked out of a squad by just joining. So I think that your situation, OP, is not that common, or so I feel... maybe you just got unlucky?
Again, I've played PR since .7, can't recall a situation I was kicked or had different treatment based on nickname. I've seen well-known players get a tap in the back, but I've never seen any not-so-well-known players such as myself suffer in any way.
