Help needed = occasional crashing to desktop

I'm having trouble with PR occasionally crashing to desktop - it usually happens when switching to a new map but also less frequently happens in the middle of a game.

I'm running a:
EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI System Board
Intel York QX9770 3.2 GHz Quad Core Xtreme CPU
GeForce GTX 280 1GB Video
4GB Corsair Dominator 1600 Memory (9-9-9-24) CMX4GX3M2A1600C9
RAID 5 array consisting of two Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB and a single Seagate Barracuda 250GB

Any ideas?

What settings are you running?

Are you by any chance running windows 32bit?

I'm guessing you need to run (textures? lighting?) at low to stop the 'out of memory' ctd.

I get the same quite frequently.. running win7 and everything on high, i get around 45 fps usually. and then - bang. Back to desktop.

I think it's BF2 just not running well on a Windows 7... because I too have Windows 7, and once and a while it would crash... lately it hasn't but it did about 2 nights ago...

Yes running windows 32bit - all graphics settings on PR set to high. I'll try turning some off to save memory. I ran PR flawlessly on my old system for years but that computer had 8GB ram - maybe thats the problem

I believe the problem is actually the 32bit nature of your OS (memory limitations). If you have both the x86 (32bit) and x64 (64bit) I would suggest an installation of the 64bit version at some point in the near future so you can continue running high graphics settings :)

Change your windows7 32bit to 64bit will help,or use 2G memory,32bit OS cant allow you use more than 2G memory.

I'm using win7 64bit with 4 gigs of memory .. so the memory limit isn't the problem - at least not for me.

Unless there is some kind of memory leak.

I thought 32bit version can use up to 4gigs of mem, not 2.

32bit can only max of 2gb per app, you can unlock it though

3.2gb was on XP, win7 and vista can go above that, but only for home premium and above
i think the ones below are capped at 2gb.
but M$ in all their wisdom put a lock on 32bit systems so they cant use more the 2gb per app. for example you might not be able play DCS a10 on 32bit unless you unlock the thing.

Are people still buying genuine Windows cd's?

Btw; there's nothing wrong with your RAM nor GPU nor chipset, people with older computers (like me earlier) can run it without crashing.

It's probably because of the bugs in the mod and engine/game itself. I don't think you'll find a solution soon, atleast if you ever find one.

I think PR097 might appeared a new bug which cause game crash, but i am hesitated if i should post it.The Real reson for game crash is still comprehensive,4G memory,Game Settings...

If anybody got game crash with 64bit OS,I suggest you change your video setting's "filtering"and"Geometry" to medium,It works for some players in our community.
