Radeon HD Series TRASH, JUNK, DO NOT BUY

After years of using a 7800gs AGP I upgraded to a Radeon HD 4670. Problems out the A. DO NOT BUY a 4000, 3000, or 2000 series, known issues all over the web forcing you to use old drivers just so you don't get a blue screen, I wish someone would have stickied this 6 months ago so I could have saved myself the money and frustration. For those of you who have these cards working great, are you using win ult. 64?

The problem could mainly affect older AGP cards.
Someone told me in an earlier post it's commonly known to have to revert back to 11.3 Catalyst Drivers to get rid of black spots.. is this true for you?
This is a speciffic XFX 4670... XFX just looks like they build junk, the fan on this thing looks like it belongs to a 6800 from 10 years ago, shitty flimsy build DO NOT BUY XFX ATI RADEON HD 4670 DO NOT BUY.

Hey mate, my old PC had HD 3850 AGP version - pretty bad *** card but I have use to Nvidia and only reason why I bought, because Nvidia did not offered anything equivalent - so mate, you just had shity card.

And no, I was using 32 bit Windows 7 because I did not had more RAM - only 2 GB

It's a known fact that ATI cards have some driver issues and most people who buy them know this, but you have to hand it to them... They are bloody cheap cards for what you get. Also its (as with anything) only a select few that fail to function. Technology is that way unfortunately, some just don't work after a while.

This is why I only buy EVGA stuffs. You can buy EVGA, overclock it and burn it up, and they will replace it. True enthusiasts brand of choice.

I have a 5970 and have absolutely no problems. Saying the whole series is 'trash' because yours is duff is a little over the top.

Whoah whole lotta rage in caps agains HD.
They are excellent for their price and very reliable (hardware), drivers can be better. Buy yourself a Sapphire and all the rage will melt away.

Had a 4870 on my old PC. Was having sync issues with audio and video on Fraps and nothing was working to fix it. Support suggested I update all my drivers, from the moment I upgraded the ATI driver I started having issues, took forever to find a way to actually get the thing to install properly and it ended up causing my entire motherboard to fuck up. I ended up just buying a new PC with duel Nvidia cards instead.

I don't see how drivers can break your motherboard, unless you're a complete illiterate, I don't see how that's possible. My system runs 2 AMD PowerColor 5770's in Crossfire, both overclocked 20% with stock cooling. Aswell as a AMD Pheon X4 955 BE which is OC'd by 40% on all cores. No issues, then again I'm not stupid when it comes to using my hardware. The last Nvidia card I had was a 8800GTS 512MB and that burnt out after reaching 80C, the tolerance on my AMD setup is alot higher... You guys arent even giving some decent evidence to support your extremely bias claims of fanboyism, not knowing how to use a computer and flashing your BIOS with the wrong stuff isnt AMD's fault at all. Most of you have old and dated cards, get with the times before you start criticizing modern hardware that you don't even have. ( 5XXX HD series and up )

thats more like evga>Ati, stock nvidia are kinda crappy in the cooling department (i guess nvidia is experimenting wiht GPU + coffee maker machine setups)
also this thread should prolly be locked since its turning into a versus thread, Rissens problem probably is due to having a faulty mobo, or a weak PSU, come to think of it the OPs problems might be from a weak PSU

Forgot to mention it's AGP, this is why the drivers that are supposed to work 11.3 don't. 11.2-11.7 crash a system, 11.8 has black spots, 11.1 and 10.12 are not up to date with the rest of windows resulting in crash after crash... guess it's time for a new computer, if your looking to upgrade your agp board with a 4600 series... DONT.

Maybe yours had other drivers available. My Club-3D HD3850 Overclocked Edition AGP had there own specific drivers on there website. Simple ones or third party did not worked on mine.
