U was in that last epic 4 squad apc supported qwai 126 player assault? :)

I have to say, the sounds. And the effects, not to mention all that you mentioned is what makes it for me.

For me it really depends on the teams and server. If everyone is on mumble and working together (armor supporting infantry, multiple squad offensives). Also when playing as blufor on insurgency, I love a successful cache assault. When you cover as your specialist breaches the door, storming into the room and dropping insurgents, feels like watching a scripted event :D

For me the best moment of immersion was the round where no one in my squad died through out the entire round. It was way back in .7 sunset city. 6 US marines frantically maneuvering between objectives int he city. encountering and defeating anything it came across. they were the first to every flag and the first to make contact every time. Thanks to an amazing medic we gained victory without a single loss within the squad. I felt like a good Officer that just got home and brought all my men home with me in one piece!

the other time would be when i called and zeroed mortars onto an enemy FOB. As a recce trooper irl i just did it how i was supposed to. needless to say the humvee convoy holed up there was decimated. even the ones that relocated.

PR sound is awesome indeed, my latest immersion tale was in Al Basra, where I managed to ambush the brits in TG server with arty IED and made them lose about 30 tickets or more with patience and a lot of thinking! Those damn bridges hun!

I member the first time on a 128 player server. It was on Kashan and the Infantry Rushing Bunkers while all hell broke loss when Both side fired at each other.

So MUCH WIN!

My immersion is proportional to the product of the intersquad teamwork and intrasquad cohesiveness in the game.

My greatest moment was on the Karez Offensive test event. I was so glad to see the hueys flying my way that I almost burst into tears.

The firefights were intense on that map.

Immersion is when there's little meta-game.

"They're spawning on that FOB, let's put a rally down here so the AR can spawn in and then try to knife that radio" is meta-game and unimmersive.

"PKM, rooftop 220! Another guy downstairs in the wind- wait, hold fire, hold fire! Civilian! Focus on the PKM!" is immersive.

Hiding in a ditch, tracers flying over your head and puffs of dirt go up all around you when your SL shouts "Supressing Fire!".

I'm most immersed in the game when I'm playing as a good old dirt-eating infanty grunt. Be it rifleman. I have my trusty rifle and the much needed ammo bag, and a competent, smart SL. All I can do now is enjoy the game, the sounds, bullets flying over my head, be totally aware of my surroundings and survive a whole lot just by being keen and knowing where's the enemy. Too bad I'm losing this side of the immersion when I'm squadleading, I would definitely die less.

When I'm squadleading I get this second type of immersion. It probably happens due to me concentrating too much on what is happening in my team and on the map (as a squadleader I try to find the gaps that need to be filled up in order to help my team be victorious). Almost always I'm using Mumble SL channel to hear and talk to other SL's about "important stuff", so sometimes when there's lots of sounds in Mumble SL channel I have to rely on my squadmates to tell me everything that's happening around us (not everything, but details like hearing footsteps). So what I'm saying is that I'm really immersed in the game as a squadleader, but it's totally different than the immersion of a grunt.

As a gamer I prefer the grunt immersion, it's more "fun". But as an PR player that thinks he knows how to play this game "right" I prefer the SL immersion, it feels more "fruitful".

Sound, variety, random actions, cinematic stuff, imagination... many things in PR that make it win of wins.

But when your team sucks...

If your immersion is off maybe you should use Gas or kerosene

the sounds of pr are really what does it for me. but the perfect sense of immersion is always when you have to do things without thinking and doing whatever you can to survive. theres no better feeling than using your instinct to save your whole squad
