Budget Build help

So I'm looking for a nice computer build within a modest budget that is capable of running battlefield 3 (potentially more : D )

I'm heading off for Army BCT and AIT soon and I'm hoping to get a whole new gaming PC going by the time I get back. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently I have a nice 10 year old HP that runs on the good ol' Pentium 4 with some graphics card and it sure makes playing PR fun with all of the choppiness

What is your budget price wise??500? Also when would you get back? I ask this because I know NVIDIA and amd(formally ATI) are both going to be releasing new graphic cards at the end of this year, which means2 things, 1 the price.of current gen cards will drop by about 10%-20% normally, and 2 the next gen cards will be 'more bang for buck' but they will most likely be available right at the end of this year or beginning of this year.

Edit: also Intel are releasing ivy bridge come Jan 2012, with 3 dimensional transistors, but it is always a never ending Chase for the latest technology :P , I gave in and bought back in April- May time xD

Fair point and that build does look good to me :P Cept I'm not 100% sure on what the second hand processor market is like, I'm going to assume not as good as the GPU market... (which is always another option for buying GPUS, tempted to sell mine if I can get a good price for them when the 600 series from nvidia comes out (atm got 2 570GTX OC'd to 800mhz). Just got to keep up with the tech xD, its an addiction =[

Ah, you may want to repost when you return :P or next summer, there will be a whole load of tech out by the time you come back, including the mentioned Ivy Bridge processors, and 600 series from Nvidia, and 7000 series from ATI. All of which will bring big improvements. (But not as much as graphene will when it finally materialises :P )

'[R-DEV wrote:Matrox;1655988']Have you tried Alienware?

Alienware Area-51 ALX Desktop Details | Dell UK
If his budget is 500-800, alienware is 200%-300% out of his price range :P (and for desktops way over-priced, even for the snazy cases)

How could I make such an obvious mistake?

My apologies....

Very good point. I'll wait until I'm done and post a request for help then, but still I really appreciate the help guys!
