Hey Dancon, and welcome to the forums.

The first thing you'd like to do is install PRmumble. When you've done that, you should run it. You might get a message saying this is the first time you've runned PRmumble, and you get a question to run the "Audio-Wizard". Click "Yes". If you don't get this question, click on "Configure", and then "Audio-Wizard".
Running through the "Audio-Wizard" is very easy. Just make sure you've selected the correct headset and microphone.

When you're done running through the "Audio-Wizard", you should click on "Server", in the upper-left corner of your screen. After clicking "Server", click "Connect".
A new window will now appear. Click "Custom Servers". If there's already a "Project Reality Official Mumble Server", you just select it, choose a nickname, and click connect (there is no password).

If you don't see any custom server, you'll have to click "New". Write "mumble.realitymod.com" in "Address", "64738" in "Port", and choose your nickname. We'd all prefer if you use the same nickname as you've got in-game.

After connecting to the official PR server, you'll see a lot of channels, and pretty much all of the server has a "Team 1" and a "Team 2", with Squad leader channels on both. If you're already on a server, let's say TG, your job will be to find TG in the channel-list. The channel list is alphabetically, so it shouldn't be too hard.
If you've found it, but don't know what team you are, simply go in-game again, and try to compare players in-game with players on mumble. If you can't do it, simply ask someone what team you are.

Now, as soon as you doubleclick on the channel, you might hear a lot of talking. This is because you're unlinked. How do you get linked? Simply lay down (go prone), jump in and out of a vehicle, or alt-tab a couple of times.

Hope this helped you out a bit. Feel free to ask about anything.

saX.

Hey ! Thank you for your answer.

I clicked on server, and then Connect. A box comes up, and it's "Server Browser" There are 3 websites, (adresses). But is should i click on them? And if i click on the "Custom Servers" there' no "New", i can only click on connect, but there's nothing to connect to.

Thank you again !

When you're on Custom Servers, look at the right side of the small window. It says "Label", "Address", "Port", "Username" and "Password".

As soon as you click on Custom Servers, go to Address. Write "mumble.realitymod.com". Port is "64738".
Choose a nickname, and connect.

Tell me how it goes.

There's no point of joining a channel on mumble if you're not in-game on PR.

No you find the mumble server with most people then join there dont talk yet. then you go into PR and find the server if its full you can try another server but then you must also change the server you joined in mumble. Nothing is automatic everything must be done manually from finding server to change what team you are on mumble and so on.

Hello Duncan1,

Cool that you are interested in that!

- After running the audio-wizard once and setting the hotkeys for "local speech" (i use
"Alt") and if needed "SL channel" (I use "Windows left") you are basically good to go...

If you use Win7 or Vista do the usual "run as admin" and choose your devices
correctly. As I once read you should not leave the options at "default in-/output
device - not sure if necessary though
;)

Usually I start playing by following this:

- Start up mumble and connect to the official PR mumble (root?) server.

For Doing this choose your nick name to match you in-game nick as it makes
?recognition?/?recognization? way easier...I see you in-game with "Duncan1"
hovering above your head and on my mumble overlay I see Duncan1 when you
speak. Instead you could choose 1nacnuD and I got totally confused...
;)

- Start up the game and search the server browser for a place to hop into (e.g. PRTA)

When you finished loading press "Tab" to see the players list. Hold "Tab" and click on
"Squads" to have another view of it. Now look for SLs and other names that you can
easily remember. Try to keep a couple of them in mind while you...

- "Alt+Tab" to desktop to bring up mumble and get into the channel

Look in the long list of mumble servers for the according one (e.g. PR Teamwork
Alliance). Now check for the names and choose the right channel (team wise).
Doubleclick to get into it. You'll see your nick somewhere in the hopefully long list
of the other mumble users
;)

- FROM NOW ON as long as you are not spawned in in-game:

You can hear everybody on that team talking on mumble and everybody can hear
you as you are "not linked" or "your mic is hot" as people refer to it!

- Switch back to the game, find a squad, have fun and good luck!!!

---------------------

Pro-Tips: ( new to memes and such but I recently just found out this was one ;) )

:!: Set "lower/increase" volume hotkeys in mumble. That way you can control it when
needed in certain situations. I use "+" and "-" on the numpad. You wanna talk to you
squad while many others are around? You wanna understand the Infantry in the back
of your APC while driving?
There you go...

:!: Right-Click on your audio-symbol and choose "output devices". Switch to tab
"communication" and select "do nothing" as Win7 (and vista???) would normally turn
every other sound source down while a VoIP-program is running...Annoying as fack
when your game and especially squad-voip gets totally crippled by that.

:!: Sometimes you wont get linked automatically or even get unlinked while in-game.
IIRC it has sth. to do with boundary-issues - lol - of Mumble and/or PR itself.
Lay on the ground to get re-linked again.

:!: Try to avoid asking (while unlinked) what side is which. Imagine everyone doing that
an the people already playing have to answer the same question again and again while
being in a firefight maybe. That indeed can be very annoying and even bad for
gameplay...you might just miss that one footstept of the enemy around the corner.

:!: In the options of mumble you can enable the overlay function. I personally find it VERY
useful and strongly recommend using it. Even though it might have a bit of an impact
on immersion for some people. It makes it easier to identify the guy you are hearing.

:!: Unfortunately there are some sick-minded people out there who get their kicks out of
annoying others...maybe by playing loud music while unlinked. DO NOT GET UPSET or
dislike mumble - simply "local mute" that one guy by "Alt+Tab"-ing out and
right-clicking on his name.

-------------------

I think that is all I know about proper mumble use (in one post!). Sure hope this can be help for everybody struggling to get this important tool running! If I can think of something else or made a mistake somewhere in this I'll sure edit this bad-boy accordingly. Any questions left - fire away!

Kind Regards,
KiloJules
