Project Reality ... or ?How to make my Battlefield unplayable?
Hello everybody.
This is my first post in this forum as you can see
Let's talk about this Project Reality.
Everything started with a video on YouTube. Some russian squad guys playing really good and really organized, then I see a lot of videos like it and this question comes to my mind "What is this mod where everybody is organized and respectful? Is it a LAN party ?" :O
Google FTW! Hello Project Reality.
Reading comments and watching videos makes me want to try it out. I download Desura, then I download and install PR. My welcome message to this mod is : MD5 hash failure or something like that > Recheck + Install missing files. All good.
Now I run PR, guess what ? It doesn't work. Google FTW again. Running it as admnistrator, all good.

Guess what ? I get the ?Your connection has been lost? deathmessage. This time Google couldn't help me. I tried to disable the VoIP; set minimal router's firewall settings; disable my own AV; set PnkBstrB.exe in service settings to Auto-Reload; running it with compatibility settings to Win XP SP2/1/3; Reinstalling PR; Reinstalling PR and BF2; tried a lot of CDKs but still nothing. It just won't work.
EDITED : *ISSUE PART SOLVED*
Now, thanks for reading, and if anybody can help me, it would be great.
TL;DR:
- PR won't work
- None of the solutions mentioned in this forum worked.

Since I can't buy any original Battlefield from my country (there isn't any, and god knows I looked for it) I had to use CD-Keys from some websites (I guess I can't tell which ws in this forum). It worked great for my BF2 game instead some servers where that CDK was already banned.
Let's get back to PR. My BF2 CDK didn't work for PR obviously. Nah it would have been too easy. Found some other CDK that works with it.
Guess what ? I get the ?Your connection has been lost? deathmessage. This time Google couldn't help me. Now, thanks for reading, and if anybody can help me, it would be great.
TL;DR:
- PR won't work

- BF2 won't work even after uninstalling PR
- PB banned me for no reason.
Guess what? Buy a legit copy of BF2 through steam, bout 10 bucks
and your problems should be fixed

Even if PR would've caused your CD key to be banned somehow, that's hardly something to hold up against it.
As vista said, you can buy a legit copy of BF2 online, Steam being the most popular platform for that these days.

Guess what? Read my post
If it was that simple I would have already bought it from Steam. Sadly, I can't pay from Internet here =/
@Spec: I know, I don't care about the CDK, I managed to found my previous and beloved one that works for BF2. The problem is what should I do to make PR works ? I'm sure that not all of the community members here have a legit copy of BF2, so how do they manage to make it work
?

99% of us have have legit cd keys you could possibly ask the chinese at best.
PB banned you because you had no legit cd key, simple as that. BTw i dont think the forum mods will leave this thread open much longer piracy is not something thats discussed here.

I see. I thought this mod was for every CDKs and free, guess I was wrong.
Well I hope they let this thread open because I'm not asking for CDKs. The only problem I have now is the "Connection has been lost" issue, because when it is a CDK issue, PB warn me about it.

I still think it's your CD key. Punkbuster adds new released CD keys all the time. Get a new CD key from a bf2 box or from steam and it should work. Before you do, there is no point in helping you since it's nothing we can do.

I doubt anyone is using a bootleg copy to play online, and your story really proves it. If you want to play online you WILL have to buy Battlefield 2, its as simple as that.
If you cant get a copy off steam in your nation, you could try getting one from Ebay or any online store, or buy a new legit CD key from a cdkey site. Its average price is only $10-$15 so its pretty cheap.

I will ask a friend of mine, he lives in EU.
Anyways, thanks to the guys who helped me. No thanks to the trolling posters.
Like I said, you can lock this thread, If I can't manage to make PR work even with a legit CDK you'll see me again

Bottom line is you need a legal cd key. There are many avenues to which you can acquire a legal cd key. Steam being the easiest. You could also try and garner yourself some friends in another country that would be willing to buy the game for you and then send you the CD key.
Anymore talk about how to circumvent having to use a legal cd key will result in this thread being locked, and possible bans.

I will not state if your CDK is legit or not. But it seams you are running in trouble of firewall of some sort. Try to join ingame with your firewall down and if using nat double tseck your settings. However the PB will give you notice if you have been kicked due the not legit CDK if this is not the case then then its just something bad in your connection. PB either notices you have pirate cdkey or not. There is no midway where it just termitanes your connection every now and then whitout reason.
Best way to buy legit copy from your country is via paypall since you can ask paypall to send you bill to your home. The amount of the bill is what you want. When you pay it in your local bank you will get the cash to your internet account and are then able to use it shopping in internet!

Get original copy, install, patch to 1.41, patch to 1.5, install PR, there you go.

You say that you can't buy stuff on the internet from where you live?
Well, I guess you can download steam, and you said you had a friend that lived i EU. Would it be possible for him to buy it to you via steam? Either as a gift or by giving him your password(if you trust him).

Yeah that's my plan
But like angellfall said, I don't think it's a CDK issue, more of a firewall issue. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Damnit, bout time wicca stood up and went WAY-HO. No seriously, just dont, he will make you crazed up and in 2 years you wont have hair, and your balls will be shrinked, and your lungs will be all suckked up and you will be in jail. So dont
Edit: Just so Wicca doesnt feel bad, because i actually <3 him, i always remember wicca as my 128 player test server squad leader so yeah....I just cant forget the good times we had. So wicca, as always i kid.
