Im planning on getting this ssd (Newegg.com - Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)) and I was reading somewarea bout the Marvel SATA 3 6gb/s ports not being able to output full speed.

The ssd has a Read & Wright (On SATA 3) around 500mb/s. And thats the why I am buy that one.

My motherboard is ASUS's Rampage 3 Formula.

If I get this ssd will I beable to run it at 500mb/s or do I ahve the Marvel SATA 3 problem...??

Could you not plug it into one of the intel sata3 ports?? 2 of them are intel iirc. Also not heard of this marvell problem, but not too into my SSDs, however the above still applies =]

Well the speeds for that ssd are 500mb/s and with SATA 2 you can only get ~250mb/s. I want to use the full speed if that ssd.

I was reading on ASUS's website about their "True SATA 6Gb/s Support" and it says that my mobo (Rampage 3 Fromula) has this feature. It supposedly gives it the full speed (ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS Rampage III Formula). But yet it uses the Marvell 92xx chip.

Some people where saying something about having it in ACHI mode and that helps but I dont want help I want full speed.

If the marvell chips are causing it then what chip doesn't cause it. And what similar motherboards do?? I dont want to get a new mobo because I love mine but I want an ssd with +500mb/s speed.

You should note that Anand Lai Shrimpi (at anandtech) is fairly sure that the Sandforce 2200 controller BSOD problem is linked to ASUS boards.

There is a fairly rare but serious firmware issue which the SSD manufacturers haven't been able to fix which causes some users of Sandforce 2200 drivers (which the Force 3 is) to experience Blue Screen of Death often.

In short, there is a small risk that if you buy a force 3, your build will be incompatible with sandforce 2200 drives. On the other hand, the Force 3 is super quick.

Alright that clarified things. Im getting it off newegg so if that problem happens I can easily rma it. But im more concerned about the Marvell SATA 3 Controller...
