Hi guys !

I've seen in the .95 trailer, when they are walking into at compound and they walk really slow. How do i do that?

Weapon sights up. No other way sadly.

I don't think that's possible. Probably the engine only allows for 2 movement speeds - sprint and walk (which, in-game, is jog). The action of aiming down the sights seems to have its own speed-limiter.

Now, gameplay-wise, why would you want that? There is no advantage in walking (I don't think deviation can be fixed in any form to accomodate walking without increasing deviation). If there is a way, I'm all for it...

There is an advantage in walking: You're slower. When you don't want to risk falling down somewhere, when you want to slowly enter a certain area for the fear of stepping onto a trap or crossing a corner before having turned around to make sure it's clear - then it's either stop-and-go, which can be annoying, or you need to constantly zoom in.

I'd only NOT walk when in a hurry.

But then you can crouch.

1 Have your weapon up aimed 2 crouch. but its reallly slow :l might be ineffective

Well yes, you can crouch, but if you sight in while crouching you suddenly speed up again, and you can't see over objects... I personally don't like the way BF2 handles infantry movement, but there's not much to be done about it.

If you want to walk slowly without raising your weapon:

Drop your kit and hold up your two arms to surrender.

Problem with raising the weapon is the limited field of view / obstruction of the screen by sometimes massive ironsights/red dots (the G36 HKV for instance). And problem with speed is that it sometimes requires stop-and-go or forces to crouch; the latter limits the amount of stuff I can see as low objects can now more easily conceal an enemy, and the former takes away from the smoothness of movement that I think helps a lot in clearing rooms in coordination with teammates.

If you have a joystick you can map the movement controls to that. I found it was fairly good in cqb popping in and out of cover more precisely but overall it is quite tricky. I guess if you continually use it it would become easier

That's really interesting.

Do you use a program or does the game automatically adapt for gradual acceleration?

Actually, it is very cool to be able to control your speed using the throttle, and yes the game automatically adapts :D

Got around to looking for my thread. It has the same name almost!

So, there is the whole "workaround" that should work.
