Please use the Nato Phonetik alphabet when using voip. Obviously it isnt necessary in chat. But in voip because of a less than stellar mic or crazy accents u dont always get the correct grid. I mortared the wrong end of a bridge the other day because of it.

I realized in PR that like NO ONE uses it. 96% of users DO NOT use it.

I remember it happened when I was mortaring on Fools Road.
This kid said/meant this:
"Hotel Three, Key 6"
It sounded like:
G3 KP 9

My sl placed it... (He didn't know that there was a 'fortress' on it.)
Matty1053 [Teamkills] fkdlasfjl (It said that 10 times at least)

What ever the request might be for CAS or firemission, what ever they say or point at, God damn Spotters / SL's and mortards, CHECK THE MAP (Atleast before firing). And DO MIND atleast 30 - 50 m radius is a danger close in PR, with other words, do not fire even if there is a guy next to your firemission, Orders are orders, but not blue on blue, use your common sense.

But tho there is people who ignore things like this, I might mention [OD-S]L4gi He fires only on top of me.

I tend to use NATO, sometimes i repeat with only letter, or vice versa, but in the end, you will understand what im saying.

The only two words I use in-game are.... LEEEEEEEEERRRROOOOYYYYY.... jenkins.

I always use the phonetic alphabet.

I use the phonetic alphabet, since I learned it in St John Ambulance, however I don't mind people using other words as substitutes.

just remember that B, C, D, E and G sound very similar, especially in certain accents, so use another word to tell people grids etc if you don't know the phonetic word.

For those who have no clue what we're talking about:

This is NATO's phonetic alphabet (or something like that).
A - Alpha
B- Bravo
C- Charlie
etc. etc. etc.

Yes they do. A vast majority of the people I've played with use it.

The issue doesn't always come down to how they pronounce the word or letter. Often people make the mistake of saying "Keypad" in voip or mumble. This waste time, ive often heard this coming from a commander:
"okay we have an enemy truck coming from F4 keeeeeeeeeeeyypaaaaddddd......... ....... 7" Instead of checking there map before hand and getting all the information together, the word keypad has become the new "ummmmmmmmmm" of PR. Foxtrot 4-7 Truck, everyone knows your talking about F4 that the following number is the keypad and that there is a truck there.


While were on the topic of voice communications, it would be oh so wonderful if i didnt have to tell squad members all the time how report contacts. Not only this but to stem the flow of useless information in voip chat people have to be constantly reminded that "i dont care about the apc starting its engine south of us"
or "and enemy helicopter is flying over there".


Here is a bit of info that will make your squad leaders appreciate you more. the acronym GRIT
G - Group, the squad of people around you that you wish to address. " 2 Section!"
R - Range, the range to what it is you are looking at. " 120 meters!"
I - Indication, the direction to your contact and something easily identifiable near it. " Bearing 210 at the base of tree!"
T - Type, the type of target you are looking at " Lone Enemy soldier!"

When your squad sees the target then SLs can issue fire orders, anyone have trouble can shout "UNSEEN" in which case you can walk them onto the target. This saves alot of time from conventional " Enemy guy right there, hes on me, there! SHOOT!" while everyone looks right there , where ever there is.

I always use the NATO phonetic alphabet, it is easier. Nuff said

Haha, that number is legit for sure.

Theusage of the NATO alpahabet is convenient if there is radio chatter, wich we hear a lot in PR, so even if you say Mike, somebody will hear -ike or something, and will know what youre talking about.

Lets not just say specifics and claim they are true eh plenty of players, especially squad leaders do use it

That always make me facepalm. People that talk really quickly and do not use the phonetic alphabet makes me cringe as well. B, C, D and E all sound pretty much alike when someone screams it at you and you have infidels firing at you... Fortunately the usage of mumble and phonetic alphabet more often than not goes hand in hand.
