Fraps kills PR

Sys: q6600, asus pk5, 4gb of ram, 9800gtx+.
I am using 3.4.6 (latest) version of fraps, updated PB, other programs that are slowing down my pc are only mumble and xfire, daemon tools client and skype.
No matter what game setting i use, what resolution i choose - I simply crash to desktop with no errors. I have two additional hard drives, 250 and 500GB, tried to record on both of these, could try external one, but USB2 will slow everything down. Any ideas how to fix these CTDs? Note: that only happens when i start recording.

Go use the awesome
MSI Afterburner (current: Beta 8 ) and you'll have only ~ 5 fps drop while recording, you can choose the rcording FPS (I chose 30), fullscreen and a codex and compression and it's allright!

actually no, if you use an external HDD to save the recorded footage onto performance might even improve

usb2.0 run at 480Mbits/seconds whlie sata2 specs allow for 3.0 Gigabits/seconds, about 6 time faster interface speed..
Reading most forums I get these results, it seems that USB2.0 will only slow down that transfer speed.

codes are quite meh, but that's not the main problem, problem is that it don't record my sound. nice find tho.

well i got rid of lag when i recorded to my external, if you have a second HDD on which neither the game nor windows is installed or a USB3 or if its actual SATA3 you can do that too, but if your HDD is 5400rpm dont even bother with recording onto it along with the game and windows being loaded from it

i guess that doesn't matter if it's 5400rpm or 7200rpm, USB2.0 will still slow it down so it will lag.

well, for some reason I don't crash anymore. Tried windowed and full screen. Hope it will stay that way..

Dont use xfire and fraps at same time...both have osd and can conflict...save your recorded files to a drive other than system drive...in general thats what I think about this, and Im glad theres no more crashing, but if you still have fps drops turn off all other programs, xfire first if using fraps.

hm, freaking game crashed on full screen today after good 5-10 minutes on CW Q_Q, however windowed works okay.. even with custom res (1680x945 - 16:9 instead of 16:10).. if anyone finds out where is the problem - let me know..

Sorry for the bump, have this problem as well. Most likely because of Xfire. Does it also work if you just turn of the Xfire overlay? Or does Xfire have to be shut down completly?

If you dont activate overlay it should be fine, but then why using xfire at all? Go to settings and make sure Enable Xfire in game is not checked.

I have Xfire on my second screen. Overlay is simply because im Alt-Tab lazy.

Hi.
I have a problem with "Fraps". I'm trying to record gameplay with it, but it lags like hell and it's unplayable and i have tried to but down the fps thing aswell nothing seems to work...
I've got AMD Phenom II quadcore 3,4gHz processor with 4G ram and Ati Radeon HD 5850...
Playing with max resolution.
Any suggestions ?
PS. Captain obvious or Sherlock answers not wanted.

This is not needed. You came to ask for support, yet you are being rude with this statement.
