So all of the sudden it keeps crashing to desktop right after I click join games. No error message or anything, and it happens 100% of the time.

happened to me too...have you been adding or subtracting anyhting? sounds,editor, custom anything? If so i suggest a reinstall...

try running the game through the vBF2 icon then swapping to PRMM. i'm getting that a lot since modifying the sound files and running the vBF2 icon tends to resolve the problem for a while

I have the exact same problem, i cant play BF2 or PRMM because i crash to desktop.

Well this really fuckin sucks. I cant play PR, I cant even play Bf1942 mods. I tried reinstalling bf1942 and I still couldnt play the mods, and Id try reinstalling BF2 if I could find the disk. I reinstalled PR and all the patches, didnt work. I tried using the vBF2 icon, didnt work. And this just all happened all of the sudden. What do I do now...

ok ive had this problem and i had to re download and install EVERY THING but even that was after 3 months waiting and slapping a computer

Tryed 3 Times not to mention i reformated and even swaped fucking hard drives!

Cant play vanilla either! (not that I want to lol)

If I ever find my BF2 discs I'll try a reinstall but I doubt that will work since it didnt even work for BF1942. Please tell me its a punkbuster problem or something...

what worked for me another time (after loading custom statics and all kinds of ****) was to just create a new account...sometimes it is a network error...this completely cleared up the crashes for me one time...no idea what the prob was but now i dont crash at all...

Ive tried everything in this thread, no luck. Still crashes everytime I click Join.

CTD when joining multiplayer game is caused by MS patch KB917422 in conjunction with some antivirus programs. There is an unofficial hotfix KB924867 from MS that fixes this problem (it works for me). Watch out for right localized version.

if you have fiddled with the client or server game files also drives it a bit nuts, have you installed or edited any files before it started crashing?

There was a windows update (a while back for some) that produced this problem. A later update fixed it.

Yea, I think the problem started after I tried installing the PR soundpack, but I completely reinstalled PR twice so I didnt think that was an issue.

Ill try and find the latest update.

Have you tried fiddling with the video and sound settings? It could be that some of the files are missing.
