keep getting a weird lag, i play on "auto" settings (most high) with a decent rig:

GTX 470
4GB
Quad core @3.2ghz

But it keeps freezing up every 30 seconds, only for about... 1/2 seconds but it causes alot of rage and death.

Dont even know where to start, any ideas?

Tweak the video and audio settings? Ive played SP only but notice on auto lag spikes when a lot of action occurs ( blasts, a lot of shooting..etc ) For MP I dont know, Ive only borrowed to try it out, and its uninstalled already

As "MaSSive" said. Try fiddling around with the settings a bit. Shadows, smoke and lighting affects performance a lot. Try reducing MSAA if you have it enabled.

What resolution are you using?

Make sure your video card drivers are up to date.
If changing graphics settings doesn't help I wouldn't be surprised considering the way you explained it. (A regularly occurring freeze)
