Updating my computer

Hey guys, my primary HD is failing (a 128gb Velociraptor one, have Windows installed on it). Going to replace it with a SSD, might use this as an excuse to overhaul my rig as a whole...I first put this together when I started my first year at uni, I'm in my fifth year now :p

Current set-up:

-Intel Q6600 2,4GHz quadcore
- 3 HDs: the 128GB one, a 500GB and a 1TB one for data. Only the 128GB is acting up.
- Nvidia Geforce GTX 460
- 4GB of RAM, DDR2 (I think)
- not sure which mobo I have, would have to reboot to check it, but it was mid-of-the-range back when I put this thing together in 2007

I'm obviously going to be replacing my primary HD. My GPU has been switched out a couple of times already, and I'm happy with what I have now...but my CPU is ancient :p To update that I'd have to get a new mobo though. I don't want anything -too- expensive, but it should be worth the money of upgrading. Thoughts/suggestions?

I don't have time right now for a full country based build, but last night my brother asked a similar question and in overpriced Australian dollars, he was able to grab a HD6950, i5 2500k, Z68 based motherboard, 8GB of DDR3 ram for ~$650-$675. An ssd would obviously be another ~$200 on top of that. :) The upgrade without the SSD or GPU would've been $450.

I also am unfamiliar with Belgian prices but here is the general idea of what your build should look like:

i5 2500k
MB with Z68 Chipset
8GB DDR3 1600 RAM
GTX 560Ti or Radeon 6950 and above
PSU 650W or above
Case if needed

If you do not get a Nvidia card you can use your spare GTX 460 as a dedicated PhysX card.
SSD atleast 16GB but it is up to you how much you want to spend. In America I have seen 64GB SSDs for $64 but this is usually rare.

Ah, just to make this clear - going to overhaul the thing, not replace everything. Case, PSU and GPU are staying for sure.

Grab an i5-2500 (or 2500k if u want to OC) and get a P67 or Z68 motherboard. 8 GB of quality DDR3 1600 RAM can be had for 40-50€.

I just splurged on a 128GB SSD from Crucial (the M4 series). Definitely consider getting an SSD after you do your homework :)

Definitely, definitely get the i5-2500k. I'm running at 4.5GHz on air with this thing. My motherboard is the ASUS P8Z68-V. It's an awesome setup!

A friend of mine from Belgium showed me this yesterday. I compared the prices with Turkey, this is cheap. Since you are looking for MB CPU RAM upgradei this should do it.
