Realitic coax controls

In PR you can fire the coax machine gun with one button and the main tank gun with the other, allowing you to fire both at the same time. In BF3 you have to switch between the two and can only fire one at a time.

My question is does anyone know which way it works on real life tanks?

two separate weapons, two separate triggers (pretty certain)

Two triggers would be logical. But, I seem to remember seeing a documentary where they showed a switch that chooses coax or main gun on the challenger2.

Edit: found this picture of the Abrams gunner controls, looks like there is a selection switch for MAIN and COAX guns.

I'm pretty sure what we see is a COAX activation button. If this is true, I guess it's possible to fire both the main gun and the COAX at the same time, as long as you've activated it.

With every real-life tank or IFV that I could find info on, you can only fire one at a time, except the Merkava, on which you pull a wire to fire the MG.

If we had coaxial as a separate weapon slot in PR, we would end up with a just as unrealistic "warm-up" time between it and the main gun rounds (because there is loading time for the main cannon rounds when those are selected). In real life you could have a round in the chamber of the main gun, switch to coax and fire off a burst, then switch back and fire the round. Our coders haven't been able to work around that.

I was wrong. I lie flat.

is the floor pedal in a warrior IFV controlling both coax + main gun? they say "give it some pedal" IRL for coax fire?

Thanks for the info. Too bad about the engine limitation.

I like how the boresight dials were obviously taken from those crappy combination locks they give you in high school.

Perhaps it's the other way round, and the dials on the combination locks are 'milspec'? Maybe that's what starts Airsofters off, subliminal influences during childhood.

You dont need to quote if you anwering to post that is right above you.
If those things are millspec then millitary should really improve their standarts LOL

Well, it's good so you know to whom or what the accompanying comment refers to.

This is going off-topic, but quoting also prevents confusion if the previous writer decides to edit his original message.

It controls both, there's a switch that allows to swap between both. But their being swapped out for a finger trigger.
