[Solved] Bumping the black spots

Hi there, I think this issue needs bumping.
What is going on: ATI/AMD Radeon users were and are reporting wierd black spots and holes in ground, mainly on desert maps. Well I have the same problem. I tried EVERY solution, like Catalyst A.I., reverting back to old drivers, disabling pixel shader optimalization... and nothing worked! Am desperate. I dont want to play my whole time with terrain setting on low, thats just.... u know what I want to say. So, am not telling this is error from the PR developers, its AMDs, but their support doesnt work. So... what am I supposed to do :(

What version of ATI CCC are you using? Anything > 11.3 shows these black spots.

I'm running 11.3 and got no black spots, but if I run BF2 in debug mode (BF2_r.exe), I do get them. Weird stuff.

This doesn't happen to me in Forgotten Hope 2 in any settings, however in PR I need to set terrain to low for the flashing black spots to go away. What gives?

Does it happen in vanilla BF2 as well, btw?

Yes, to me atleast, and I've seen some YouTube videos of vBF2 with the same problem.

Turn AA and AF and Catalyst AI to aplication control and off. Also delete your BF2 shader cache in the my documents folder. Then set texture to medium. From having a play with the setting I get this if CCC is trying to make the ground textures do things that they arnt ment to do.

The issue I cannot get away from is when running in crossfire, when im wounded and get revived my screen is black apart from name tags and the compass until i have been fully healed.. I have to run on one graphics card. Which isnt a issue unless i forget to turn one off after playing other games.

ATI drivers pfft.

Started playing FH2 again and in high textures it doesn't have this problem. vBF2 and PR have this on high and medium. Appears the ATI bug doesn't affect FH2. Someone with the knowledge should look into this.

I acn't reproduce the freaking problem, but I did find the file that is causing it:

"I already targeted the problem, and it is obviously a shader, under shaders_client.zip, you'll find TerrainShader_Hi.fx"

Just posting it as referenc e, there are thousands oif google results for this problem, I'm not sure which solution actually works cause I can't reproduce the problem in the first place.

Yeah this is fixed in 1.0, but until then, you can either run with your terrain settings on low, or roll back your drivers to 11.3.
