Input lag on 40in LCD question

Hey all,
I'm pretty much set on there being no fix for this but just wanted confirmation/an explanation.
Ive got a 40in 1080 capable TV (Dynex DX-40L260A12, cheap, I know) set up through HDMI to my PS3 for gaming and Netflix. It runs fine, no input lag, etc.
Now, I just wonder why when I sent my laptops image through the TV through the same HDMI cable that it creates really noticeable input lag. Is there a way to stop this? Writing this now, I wonder if disabling AA and the like will fix it... is that it? Would it make sense that going from laptop to TV and wanting it to run AA would have an effect on the speed at which the image is processed/sent to TVs output?
Games are playable but most certainly not competitively as the lag on FPS is too much. Oblivion was nice, but still you can really feel the lag in the display.
Is it down to needing to disable AA or will that not fix anything? is it just the TV cant handle running a computers monitor for some reason but can handle the PS3 just fine?
Anyway, any help or explanation would be great. Cheers!
