I messed up, it appears that Fraps has been crashing my game not PR
Please accept my sincere apologies and please disregard my previous bug reports

Description:
Random CTD, no error messages, just straight to desktop.

Steps to Reproduce:
Doesn't appear to occur at any particular time or for any particular reason

Tested On:
-Vadso City
-64, Standard Layout (I think)
-Tactical Gamer
-9.73 BETA Map Pack

Video Settings (if needed):
I run everything maxed.
Edit: Tested with Medium textures, still CTD

Audio Settings (if needed):
Was using USB headphones, and mumble 1.0
I was also frapsing

I think the solution is to reduce your textures setting to medium. It will likely fix your CTDs on Black Gold too. Not only are these large, fairly detailed maps but they also employ their own textures for a lot of the statics, skydome, camo, etc. If you're running textures on high, that's a whole lot of detail that it's having to load on top of the regular PR textures.

I did that, didn't work, still crashed to desktop (I think a bunch of others did too)

Can you tell us what video card you use, how much RAM you have, and anything else that might help? Do you have CTDs on any 0.973 maps?

I have the nvidia 480, 8 gigs of 1600mhz ram, and the 965 AMD CPU
the only maps I appear to crash on so far is black gold and vadso

Since a lot of people use FRAPS, was it something that might be affecting others too?

I am using fraps sometimes and never had problems with it.
If I remember correctly I even had it running during the mappack but will take a look at it this evening.

maybe, it was a newer version, I rolled back to 3.2.3 (was originally using 3.4.7) and I've since had no problems at all

I have this problem too. First time it was solved by lowering textures to medium, now problem occurs again with medium and low tested. This happens on Black Gold too, still havent tried that map.

I have no fraps or such apps running except for mumble.

1 gig graphic card, 2 gig RAM (enough to run PR until this date), 2.8phenom X3 720.

A bit annoying this, been happy to see new and new old maps in PR, unfortunately all the good servers seems to run me into the episode of CTD whenever a new map is loaded.

Will appreciate tips, but im afraid there is not much to do until solution is presented by Devs.

Small update here, managed to load Vads? after forcing AA, but only on local server. On Black Gold i get runtime error, when i try to join server running Vads? i get runtime error.

Chris if youre runing it on Vista or Win7 you need more RAM - 2Gb just isnt enough anymore. Can you post a screenshot of that Runtime error? Is it saying something about Net Framework? Make sure you have 3.5 installed and run PR as admin if on Vista/Win7 do not use compatibility mode.

Its not Net error, just unusual app behavior (or something like that).

Case solved.
