Icons jumping around on desktop, possible virus?

Whenver I start BF2/PR I always notice that some of my icons literally move about.
At the moment the icons are in 5 x 7 'formation' or whatever, and when I start BF2(w/mods) the icons move somewhere else. And then if I move it back, it does the exact same thing. It also happens when I leave the moved icons and my desktop just ends up moving more icons somewhere else. My resolution is 1366x768 and is too in BF2 if that is related

.
I'm not sure if this is a virus or something, because I did a full comp scan a couple of weeks ago and it deteced 2 trojans. I deleted them and I had to perform a system restore as a result of an unrelated problem. because of this i was also wondering if those trojans would be restored back into my system.
p.s. i wasn't sure if i should have posted this in PR tech support because I'm not entirelly sure if loading BF2 is related to the problem

Are you entirely sure that your BF2 resolution is the same as your desktop one? That would cause the issue you're describing.... and I can't really think of what else it could be with just the above description...

Make sure your graphics card's drivers are up to date. As Psyrus said, resolution switching can mess up the desktop icons so check that your fullscreen programs are running at your monitor's native resolution.
I think it is possible that it's a virus, but I don't know for sure.

My desktop resolution and BF2 resolution are exactly the same.
Which specific drivers can i update?
In Device manager>Display adapters it says I have Intel HD graphics, which I'm assuming is the graphics card (say if i'm wrong) and it says it is up to date.

What about refresh rate. What type of monitor do you use? Check your video.con in C:\Users\*YOU*\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\000N
Look for a line saying "VideoSettings.setResolution 1440x900@60Hz" <= pay attention to @60Hz and change to fit your monitor refresh rate. If its LCD then leaving this default on 60Hz for desktop and in game is probably best option. Its and integrated onboard graphics it may be some quirk. *incompatibility*

I have a laptop. Mine is at @60Hz. and some months ago (before the problem) it was fine at @60Hz
Also, everytime I change any settings in any option, my settings revert back to whatever it was before (after closing PR and starting it up again.) I press save after any changes and it does nothing.
I have also noticed when I change my resolution (e.g. from 1366 x 768 to 600 x 800 and every other optional resolution) my picture doesn't get any more pixilated. I just get black blocks on either side of my screen. It is quite confusing because when i take xfire shots of the black blocks, the xfire image just shows a standard full screen

Quite odd...it sounds like a strange driver/monitor issue. 1366x768 it should be 16:10 right? Is your monitor VW 16:10 or W 16:9? If you set some weird resolution that monitor has no full support it might happen but then again LCDs should have auto adjust option. Weird really

NO one on these forums can help you without the make and model and specs of your notebook.
It could be a problem or incorrect setting with either your GPU, your video card drivers, your BIOS, or shared VRAM.

Do your icons only jump about when you load BF2/PR or other games too?
