How do I call in a JDAM or artillery as commander?

A SL has to request it via radio first, the commander can only see the progress bar (if its available or not) and accept/decline the request.

Everything said, nothing you shouldn't understand so far... (SL = Squadleader)

Why do people make these stupid posts here? There is thing called field manual or just "manual". All the basics are there and more advanced things can be found on these forums.

User infracted for useless/unhelpful post content. Just answer the questions, gentlemen, no need to call people or their posts stupid. - Spec

Step 1: Someone has to go Commander.
Step 2: Area attack has to be available (you can see the progress-bar in the upper-left corner when you hit Caps Lock).
Step 3: A squad-leader with either an officer's kit or a sniper kit has to call it in. To call it in you use your radio. Right click - aim at whatever you want to use the area attack on - and choose "Area Attack" (down - rightclick).

To make the area attack as accurate as possible, aim at the target with your binoculars first, then hit area attack with your radio without moving your sight off target.

Tarranahua200: This is a forum. You ask for help, and you usually get it. There's no reason to read the manual when you can get help on this forum.

No question is a stupid one. Hell I never read the manual, and there's still things I don't know. It's a gaming forum and questions can be asked. Don't be an elitist.

I have read the manual but I do not remember seeing anything specific on exactly how to use the commander artillery feature. I thought it was removed after mortars were introduced.

You should read the manual. After you are done reading it, there will still be many more questions probably. If you dont make use of it, you will end up spending more time on the forums than playing.

Well it's to be expected that if you never read the documentation, there will be subjects that you're ignorant about :)

Definitely wrong - there is no distance just call it in

When calling in a JDAM, you want to call it in on the ground rather than on a building (for instance, on Muttrah) otherwise there is the possibility it won't do jack shit.

It something about damage going up from the point of impact, but not down right?

^ Yes. JDAM's do hemispherical damage on the upper plane, but not below. If you are one meter below a JDAM strike, it won't hurt you.

Hence why strikes on the Muttrah fort often do zero damage.

Heh, I always wondered why i'm so invincible. Laying down helps a lot then. Does that include other explosions?
