Names of Vehicles

Hi guys,
I just got Project Reality a month ago and have been having a blast learning how to play it. The major problem I have is being able to correctly communicate what I'm seeing if it's a vehicle. Is there a list or thread for me to learn the names of the vehicles in the mod?
Thanks,
Cruben

Dont hesitate to ask your squadmember.
As the time goes you will see you can remember the names.
for start try to categorize the vehicles.
learn the difference between a tank/apc.
I usually dont care if someone calls the chinese stryker aquivalent "stryker" as its clear what he wanted to say.

Just know difference beetween jeeps, APCs, tanks and trucks. Everyone will understand what you mean if you say "enemy heavy APC G5". Same thing with jeeps, "enemy 50.cal jeep G9".

Learning the name of every vehicle will take a lot of time and is no easy feet for a brand new player, playing with factions they don't know much about.
Your best of just learning the vehicle types to start off with and that is the main thing required for communication and will get 90% of the info the SL+squad needs to act on. For example if you just tell your SL there is an enemy APC (Armoured Personal Carrier) there, the SL will know he needs a L-AT or more to take it out, or if he should get his squad to just hide etc.
So ye, basic types of vehicle are and main things to look for to identify them:
- Transport Jeep - No weapons, only transports players with no armour: http://www.pointofexistence.com/newsima ... 9/uaz2.jpg
- Light Jeep - Soft skin, light armour, has a HMG or more on: http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1654/wmik2rj3.jpg
- Armoured/Heavy Jeep - has surfactant protection and weapons: http://media.desura.com/images/mods/1/1 ... _front.jpg
- AT Jeep - Jeep with Anit-Tank Weapons: http://usi.blacksandstudio.com/wp-conte ... hmvtow.jpg
- Transport Truck - Truck that transports troops and has no canvas over the back: http://usi.blacksandstudio.com/wp-conte ... 05/m35.jpg
- Logistics Truck - Truck that carries field repair equipment, supply crates and/or a Close Support Bridge (CSB) section: http://www.pintura3d.com/cache/Vehicles ... 23_710.jpg
- Light APC - Armoured Personal Carrier with HMG (Heavy Machine Gun): http://images.bf-games.net/news/2009/05/8941_3.jpg
- Medium APC - APC with 20mm or 30mm Cannon: http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/mod ... /37631.jpg
- IFV: Infantry Fighting Vehicle, APC with Cannon and Anti-Tank weapons: http://images.bf-games.net/news/2008/07/8203_7.jpg
- Reconnaissance (Recon) Vehicle - Small, armoured Vehicle with normally a cannon, but can't carry troops: http://pintura3d.com/cache/Scenes/S_2_710.jpg
- Light ADV - ADV = Air Defence Vehicle, aka Anti-Air Vehicle (AAV) but since AAV also means Amphibious Assaults Vehicle, we call them ADVs. A light ADV can be distinguished by only having Surface-to-Air missiles as there main weapon: http://forum.i3d.net/attachments/modifi ... tormer.jpg
- Heavy ADV - Heavy Air Defence Vehicle has both Surface-to-Air Missiles and also anti-air cannons: http://i312.photobucket.com/albums/ll35 ... een032.png
- MBT - Main Battle Tank, tank with large main gun and heavy armour: http://media.realitymod.com/news/pr07/o ... e/C2_1.jpg
- Light Transport Helicopter - Chopper that can only carry a squad: http://media.realitymod.com/news/pr085/ ... lynx03.jpg
- Medium Transport Helicopter - Chopper that can carry a squad + a supply crate: http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/5/4338/47157.jpg
- Heavy Transport Helicopter - Chopper that can carry a squad + two supply crates: http://www.teamkillerhunters.com/bilder ... hinook.jpg
- Recon / Light Attack Helicopter - Small chopper, with a small amount of weaponry: http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/5/ ... arrior.jpg
- Attack Helicopter - Chopper with large amounts of weaponry, normally requiring two players and has a cannon on the nose: http://media.realitymod.com/news/pr061/ ... ache01.jpg
- Fighter Jet - Jet with mainly AA weapons, but two LGB (Laser Guided Bombs): http://www.bundysoft.com/coppermine/alb ... ling_3.jpg
- Attack Jet - Jet with mainly ground to air weapons: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/290 ... cb66ef.jpg
- Fighter-Bomber Jet - Two seater jet, with both Air to Air and Air to Ground weapons: http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/6690 ... 518rb6.jpg
Think that's about all of them

Thanks for all your responses. My main fear was incorrectly communicating the vehicle class and causing friendlies to show up unprepared.

Wow how long did it take to make that? This has really helped me understand the classes of vehicles and how to label them. I know this will help more people than myself. Thanks!

yeah just call them by their class.
"enemy tank" is just as good as british challenger mark 2 MBT or something.

Both the AA BRDM and AA MTLB are reffered to as the Gopher (Gopher being the Anti Air system mounted on them).
The AT MTLB is the Shturm.

Im sure you meant to say
Surface-to-Air-Missiles aka SAMs not Air-to-Air (AA) missiles. It can confuse tho...AA, AAV...

I learned the names pretty quickly, I do admit it was confusin when someone shouted "GARY, GARY!!" In mumble or "beast on construction site", but what I experienced, just ask the name of the vehicle from a squad member and memorize it
Welcome to PR!

I thought it was BRDM was "Gaskin" and the MTLB was the "Gopher".
Then AT carriers, BRDM "Spandrel" and MTLB "Shturm"
Though things like that are minor in game, just making sure you get the right 'class' for vehicle. Though there will be some that you'll learn cause they are somewhat unique, such as the British Scimitar, and the Chinese VN-3 (affectionately known as the batmobile sometimes)
You'll get the hang of them pretty soon, or just do what some american players do and just call every APC a bradley, every tank an abrams and every helicopter a apache/blackhawk
To clarify last part of the last sentence is all in good humour

or cobra
Yeah knowing exact names is not really important its enough to say enemy Anti Air Vehicle on J6 kp5 or something. I dont even know how are they exactly named. In time you will learn their names when using them more.

No need to learn, but ask your teammate during game.(Hide if you hear something not near you and ask then.)
After weeks you can recognize different vehicles by their sound.
Tips:Vehicle makes noise, vehicle with superior firepower would make louder noise.Tank>APC>Car.
