Is clan a good idea?

Hello community,
I'm wondering about whether or not I should join a clan......
Looking for a clan that can work with me in regards to play time. I work til 10PM EST, but I'm available on weekends and late night. Also, I have never been in the military, so I understand if that might be a problem.
In regards to PR, I only work in infantry squads, but I am proficient as a medic, specialist, AR and AT. The main reason I want to possibly join a clan is to expand my knowledge of how to use other in-game assets like choppers and armor. I have been flying in Co-op, but playing against bots is an entirely different world. I have read the manual twice and read many posts on tactics/strategies, but would love to get some real on-the-job training.
I must say I am respectful, smart and understand how to follow orders. If anyone has any ideas or recommendations, I'd appreciate it. If you think a clan might not be a good idea for me, no worries.
Thanks!

Not being in the military is definitely not a problem. I would say the vast majority of the PR community have never been in the military.
Another personal note: Milsim clans are not the way to play PR (dont hate)
but yes, joining a clan is definitely a good idea if you want to play the game properly

Thanks Smiddey for your input. If you don't mind me asking, are you a clan member? If you had to guess, what % of PR folk are in a clan?
When you say Milsim clans, can you elaborate? Obviously that stands for military simulation......
But yes, I do want to play the game properly. For me, nothing is better than being in an infantry squad with a knowledgeable SL, a medic with a mic, an AR that knows how to cover the squad and a group that uses the radio when necessary.

It depends on what your looking to do in PR with a group of guys. Milsim working or not working in PR is just an opinion which I can respect that. But yes a clan or a unit is a good thing in PR, especially if your into playing like a unit or team.

Thanks Capt. I registered on your site and will look over requirements etc. etc.
Just by reading other topics in clan section, it seems like it's a good idea for me. I just want to find a group that loves PR and applies the teamwork aspect of it. We all know it's a game, but I take it seriously.

Personally I don't think being in a clan is necessary for a good game, I've never been in one and I still have a laugh

Hey ironcitycats hows it going?
If your looking for a clan, consider The Easy Company! We are a laid back gaming clan with one objective: to have fun. We have lots of members and lots of fun. We are not a strict clan, we have order but you get the freedom to do whatever you want. We have lots of different games we like to play, and we also host some servers like;
-Minecraft (RP and freebuild)
-BF2
-BF2142
Also, for Project Reality we are not a realism clan or a specializing clan in PR BUT we have alot of PR addicts who love to play and we also have training days ie Infiltration, flying, gunning, sniping, driving,
tank. We are also looking into getting a PR server.
So, if you want to more see our website
EC Website
or add "controltherifle" on xfire for anything you want to ask.
hope to see you there!
Thanks
~Easy Company

Yes, i am a clan leader

Obviously this all depends on what you like but in my many years of PR experience i have tried many different tactics and ways of playing the game including using real world tactics which i believe don't fully work in PR. PR has its own way of being played and its own strategies and tactics that work.

If you get with a group of guys each know each others play style and know what one another is doing without having to communicate or telling them what to do during a firefight, then you should be successful

You don't need to join a clan as long as you know 5-8 people that you really enjoy playing with. That's a lot better in my opinion.

Or not even that if you're willing to make new contacts

Yeah. Needless to say, you need to meet 5-8 people before getting to know them.

While i'm not a fan of MILSIM clans either joining a good structural clan that's well organized and solid is a good idea. One you get solid teamwork, two you have organization so the likelihood of Bob running into a tank with his shoes in hand is unlikely and the communication is better compared to a pub.

Everything. Including team members.
As said before ironcity, it's not necessary to join a clan as long as you are willing to get to know people ingame. I find PR is best when you have a bunch of people to play with regularly. A clan is one way to find those people, but not the only one.

I don't like joining clans, because you let the clan leaders control you.

In some cases this is a good thing..
Gives the game some limits, of which many actually enjoy.
It also gives you training (depending on what sort of clan). It expands the overall brotherhood and teamplay within PR..
Atleast, thats how I see & feel it.

So how about squads? Do you like joining them?

Excellent... *Mr burns fingers*
Anyway though, if you are willing to follow rules and such from a clan leader depending on who it is under the leadership of a good one you can go places. Not everyone's into strict or any structuring at all though, a well structured squad however does not a good leader.
If you want to join a clan that plays regularly I recommend it personally it's always a lot more intense/interesting when your with a group that is together all the time, you know your team, you know how they move, think, eat, fart? You get to the level where the everyday routine is your SOP. When that happens, heads will roll and elephants will crumble to your shields and spears.
