For about a week now ive had no squad leader icons on the map in game (the 2d one after pressing m/return ect), even when im the squadleader i cant see myself on the map. Not a gamebreaker granted but it is really getting annoying. Any suggestions how to fix this, they just disapeared one day for some unknown reason.

You dont see only SL icon or no icons at all? Can you see a waypoint mark? You know like move to this position or watch mark...

If not press left alt and it should be back. Not sure if this is fix for your problem but I cant see why other problems might happen. If it was a corrupt file you would get kicked from server for md5 mismatch. Check if this is the reason and post back.

I can see movement markers on the map ect, just the numbered SL icons i cant see, which is really annoying when told something like drop me at squad 3 and im like wheres that???

Thats weird Im sorry I have no idea how to fix this. You will have to wait and see if anyone else had similar or same problem.

I've seen this happen once in a while but it usually doesn't persist more than a night (or even after map change). Did you check with anyone else to see if they could see the SL icons, and did you change servers to see if that helps?

I was playing on one server for a few weeks now, tried changing server an my icons have come back, worked a treat, thanks alot soccer a very happy and prosperous new year to you and all PR players!!!!

so are the icons also back on the specific server you played on before?

cant get in that server at the moment, but i know others could see icons in that server when i couldnt, so im assuming the problem was with me and not the server, ill try and get in and check then update you.

Right i got in and all seems normal i think....there were 2 one man squads with snipers as insurgents on basrah couldnt seem to see their icons but the others i could.

I was going to make a thread about this but saw this thread instead. I have the same problem of no SL icons although i'm not sure if you have it exactly the same, but for me when i play coop,multiplayer, or even a local server, basically in all game modes i often cant see all (often the majority or if not becomes that way sometimes) or sometimes any SL icons on the regular (M) or squad map. Occurs with real and bot players and Only occurs in PR as far as i can tell (doesnt happen in fh2 or vanilla bf2). Sometimes if i reboot my pc it goes away but it always comes back even if i have reinstalled PR and often if i close pr and restart it (especially more than once) or even if i join a server or start a coop match, then leave and join another,the problem starts,if i could see all SL icons before i cant now. I think i might of had it since one of the .9 or after whatever the latest .8 version was (im guessing this and dont know if the version has anything to do with it but i dont recall it happening in .87 or around that time and its happened for multiple installs of different versions since it started)and it annoys me constantly when i play PR. Ive thought of reinstalling bf2 but i havent yet since only recently was i fed up enough to think of doing so,but i thought i would ask around first. Also i have Windows XP although its the 64-bit version. Any advice would be appreciated or just an idea of what to do about it. Or i might reinstall bf2, or if that doesnt work reload my computer from a previous point completely and see if it goes away.

HP Z400 with 2.66 GHZ Quad Core Processor..
Windows XP 64-bit OS.
Nvidia FX 580 with 512 MB RAM (was a Nvidia GTX 460 1GB it's RMA but is coming back soon the 580 was its original).
Realtek HD audio (Built in).
6 GB Physical RAM with 9 virtual.

If you are experiencing same problem with vBF2 not just PR it might be issue with your core game.

Usually its not, but if it persists, you might try to reinstall the game and see if that helps. There is no known tweak that will make this go away. It just appears randomly and goes in same way.

As said before only happens in PR as far as I can tell.As I've never seen it otherwise, it only happens in pr. It happens often enough in pr that if it happened in vbf2, or fh2, which I also play,its obvious when theres no squad leaders I can find on the map in a full game.I guessed that reinstalling was the best idea since it could be some value pr uses that is screwed up since reinstalling pr has temporary, or more often than not little to no effect on the problem when it comes to fixing it.

Only thing you can try is to delete your profile directory before you reinstall it. Go to My Documents and delete whole Battlefield 2 folder. Once done, do not run PR but run vBF2 to create new profiles directory. Retrieve your accounts, edit settings, and join mulitplayer game. Shut it down and run PR.

If that does not help, you might try with reinstall of PR but I'm not sure if it will help with this. If its that much issue try it and post back.

when you installed the 2nd GPu did you delete previous drivers and install new ones?

Yeah, had that issue from time to time as well, think it's related to the issue when flags don't show. Have no idea how it's caused, it seems pretty random to me. If someone can replicate it 100% of the time with some sort of method, let me know.

About the driver question, I reloaded my pc (the program copies the entire drive including the OS, not just files) to the backup made before I put in the 1 gb card (I'm currently using the 580 512 mb card) when I RMA'ed it since not much had changed since the new card except for stuff that wouldn't run well without it, and the original card had drivers preinstalled with no disc for them I could find. So yes the other drivers are gone, and it occurred before and after the new card. Ive thought before the profile might have something to do with it,that or the pr download so I'll try that.
EDIT: I have a slight suspicion that although since it currently looks normal I havent deleted my profile data,clearing the shader cache might do something for some reason. I rebooted my pc completely last night with no difference,but I cleared the shader cache before I turned it off earlier,and when I tried it now,it looks normal. I also vaguely recall more success after clearing the shader cache for a time until it starts again.It doesn't seem to do much if I don't reboot,but if I do it has an impact more often when I clear the shader cache then If I don't.

So clearing the shaders cache and rebooting PC is fixing it for some time but its persistent.

It may have something to do with shaders and drivers for certain graphic cards. I never noticed that on my system, but I'm not changing graphic cards that often so I can see the difference. I also have nVidia and latest drivers.

I couldnt say for sure,it could also be just changing the data like for the reason deleting the profile was suggested. Funny how it doesn't happen in vbf2 though if it uses the same shader folder. Might also be some sort of data gets reloaded involving whatever leads to the problem. Or it could be coincidence. If I see anything conclusive I'll post it. Also happened with both video cards I think. Might be some file there glitches that's involved with what's there in the shaders. Ive always used the default video card driver that came with them for both cards and I don't think it used to happen a couple years ago when I played pr after I first installed it on this computer until a few versions later. Not sure about my newer RMA'ed card since it was happening then and after possibly. Also I've never have or needed to reinstall bf2 since I first put it on when I first installed it on my current pc,and I know it can randomly screw itself under the right conditions. It once did in the past where it just randomly one day couldn't play single player or even start loading a sp map until i reinstalled it on my old pc for example.
