New Mumble's version Volume levels

Ello Ello!

Just a quick question. Yesterday I played PR with the new mumble on a voipless server. What I noticed was that squadleader radio was loud and local chat was really low volume.

So, I needed to adjust my volume to hear people around me, and turn it down FAST when a squadmate talked over the radio.

Is there a way I can get these different volume levels more in tune with each other?

With win7 you can change the volume of each app. Just click on mixer and scroll sideways if you dont see mumble.

But its within the same app. I want my local speak to be louder so it will be around the same level as my squadleader radio

Yeah i got the same..
Local mumble is pretty useless know as you got to stand right next to a guy to hear him.

I had the same problem. But i solved it with turning on some advanced soud program that came with my computer.

so helpful, i mean i am practically stumped at your knowledge and ability to convey it to other people.

i just turned up the volume of speech as a whole (within mumble), it kinda helped

anyway mumble now kinda needs voice filters for radio chat like ace (for the epicness and its kinda useful)

If the person that speaks to you on local is very close to you its even louder that any channel, but if its away from you, like 20-70 meters sound level will be a lot lower. If he is 70 meters + 0.1m from you you will not hear it at all. This is because its using positional audio in 3d world. I'm no expert but I think that this is how it should be. At least that's how it works for me.

I use SL chat all the time cos it's very quiet when you talk in Local. Is it possible to make it louderer for those within 10m or so of you to simulate directing your voice at someone you need to talk to. I.e. in real life you'd MAKE them hear you if they needed to.

Plsthx.

Yea I know, I just want the area further then next to you louder. As people are generally spaced out on the field. There voices are hard to hear. People next to me are fine, but like I said, thats usually only the medic patching you up ;)

Well I see what you mean, but I'm afraid you're going to have to play with your sound settings to get it as close as possible as it suits you. There is no tweak that I know of which will "fix it".

Maybe filters like karambaitos said ( ACRE ) but we cant do anything really its up to devs. Personally I think it should work more like field radio, and not like you're shouting out to someone on the field. Local radio up to 500 meters on separate channel, SL radio direct line - anywhere on the map etc...but that is whole different thing ( has nothing or not much with fetures it uses now )
Apologies if I said something stupid I'm not expert for sound, I'm just thinking out loud. :D

Well yeah, you actually have to face towards one you're speaking in local chat and sound will be much better then. Local works more like simulation of RL speech, its not simulating radio at all. And no I dont know any ways to improve this.

Well that is something I didn't know. So if people look away from me the sound from them is lower. Good tip. I have keys in use to turn the volume up and down from mumble so it isn't that big of a deal.

I wouldn't want to 3d sound to be taken out tho. Its awesome :)

MM, it's so quiet that I naturally turn to people i'm trying to talk to. Never knew if it made a difference or not.

Trouble is nobody else does it to me when they are talking to me.. LOL..

Local is pretty quiet, especially if your a trans helo pilot and trying to talk to your passengers.
