Airfield Runway Length.

I was wondering if the new maps/updated maps would have a extended runway reduce the amount of crashes of new pilots and some experienced ones.

Not like I cannot land a plane but to 3/10 times the time comes to jump out before it hits the edge of the runway, and I think a extension of 1/3 would be just perfect.

I don't the length, maybe 1000m? You can stand at the end of airfiled and use marker as a squad leader.
To be honest, difficulty of landing a plane depends on maps, Hardest two-Battle in QinLin and silent eagle.
If you are approching to fast, just pull up and try again! I remember there is a video on Youtube that teach us how to land, I am sure it will be helpful.
Practice makes perfect mate! Keep practicing!

wheel brakes for plane would make it easier as current one lifts the front up

As far as I know complete aircraft system in PR is being reworked, and Rhino is in charge of it. Hopefully we will see new dawn of flight mechanics in next PR version. Runways will be smoother and better modeled, and planes will be tweaked and some new features added.

On topic:

I agree, the runway length on certain maps like Silent Eagle needs to be bigger.

I suggest reading this highlight here to see what the airbases will be like in the future: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f196-p ... rbase.html

The big problem with runway length is that we only have 4km squared maps, which are 4,096m by 4,096m in size to be exact. Most r/l military runways are over 2kms in length, sometimes a lot more. The old, short Camp Bastion one that I made being 2,150m long.

If we where going to stick to the r/l scale of runways in PR or anywhere close even, 1/5 or even 1/3 the map (if both sides had an airfield) would be taken up by the teams main base... As such that isn't a realistic option.

As such, 800m to 1km is pretty much the size of the runway we have to work with in PR for the best of both worlds, which is yes very short compared to r/l runways, but its our only option unless we can get much, much bigger maps.

Now yes I will agree with you, our aircraft are far too hard to land right now and we do plan to look into that at some point but the solution isn't to make the runways longer, rather more have the aircraft stop quicker on the runway which we hope to be looking into at some point "soon", as well as lots of other areas of our jets but as of yet, I can't promise anything.

Cheers.

Thanks for explaining. And I still cant read your blog and reply to it. Ill do it here. Ive looked at 2nd pic closer and I see what you did there. Exactly what I was expecting. Four dumbers hooked under su25 right? and 2-4 jdams? If that was not Su25 then must be some older mig that you plan to insert in MEC faction instead of SU25? Hope not.
Another thing I wanted to ask you, is what do you plan to do with J10. Don't say you dont know what I'm talking about now. That plane is uber leet and Mig does not stand a chance against it ( proved many times on black gold ). Either buff MIG or cut wings to J10?

That's a British Tornado jet, not an SU-25.

MIG does stand a chance against it. Proven many times in Black Gold

I want 200x200km maps and realistic locking distances for AA missiles.

Its good thing that you are updating jets. They are big part of PR and very outdated.

Not if the J10 pilot is competent.

Yes. Black Gold uses a longer runway for exactly this reason, and although it doesn't use the brand new airfield design that Rhino is working on, the longer length runways should make landing and take-offs a lot easier.

Notice Qinling's runways are about 600m:

While Black Gold's runways are about 1000m:

(The other maps in the map pack didn't have runways)

Go play some ArmA mods, or DCS? I'm still convinced that jets are a BF2 vanilla relict and don't really fit into BF2 :P R. Can't wait for some proper airfights when ArmA has been polished tho :D

If I would decide all code related to jets would be gathered to hard-drive and NUKED.
But since lot of people want to keep jets, why not at least make them better?

Most of PR dogfights are about luck anyway, if you know the trick how the get your missile in almost always I do not see a problem

If the pilot keeps checking his back frequently he will see when the Mig is behind him. As soon as he spots him he just need to step on the afterburner.

We're kinda derailing the thread, but if the mig approaches from below or from above him, you cannot see it while checking your back
