I keep crashing after i launch the game. I get the first loading screen then my screen goes black for a second or two then i am back at the desktop screen. I have tried launching from shortcut and the pr.exe thing inside the bf2 folder.

I have windows XP i first downloaded the patch from v.966 to the current and had this issue. I then tried uninstalling and getting the full install and i still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

RAM - 4 gigs

OS - this might be the prob Windows XP 32 bit
video card is EVGA GTX 460 superclocked

and the only thing that i have changed on it is having my TV as my monitor now.

Yes, VGA is Video Graphics Array (Videocard). U got a good enough one... ^^ 4 gigs also enough, quadcore? Also great. But Win XP is getting too old shit... Try to get Win 7 (Home Premium 64 bit)!

You should be able to run PR on Windows XP. Have you tried running vanilla BF2? Try that and set your video settings to all medium with no anti-alias. Start up a multiplayer game of vanilla and see if it crashes. Then try PR again. Another option is to set everything to low, but sometimes other issues pop up when you do that so try medium first since you have enough RAM for it. Lastly, make sure your computer has set a large enough page file.

It sounds like it's a BF2 problem then, and not a PR-specific problem. I would recommend doing a Google search. BF2 has been out for 6 years so I'm sure you'll find a solution posted somewhere. :)

Seems to me that bf2 was not able to find its profile directory or it was corrupted in the process. In no way I was not suggesting to you to upgrade to Win7. It may be better for compatibility but my support is not dependent on that. If you can afford for an upgrade that would be nice, as your system right now has no support for 4gb of ram. No matter what you do it will see only up to 3,25 Gb, rest is wasted. If you go with it, I suggest you go with Ultimate 64bit version.

Good luck
