Hello, this thread will be regularly updated with new information, videos, images, etc, concerning Project Normandy. We want to keep the fans around by showing and letting them known of some things coming for the next release(s).

April 1, 2012 UPDATE

It's been a while since I posted here and since we had an update.

1. So for today's update, I want to say that the weekly event is canceled untill we release the next update of the mini-mod, since the player base is quite dead and they're tired of playing the same map over and over we put an hold to the event.

2. Next release will contain a night layer for the Operation Overlord map.... with... PARATROOPERS :D , that's right.

AfterDune and me thought about that some months ago and AD started working on it, so far he uses the chinook helicopter (tweaked a bit, the back door is blocked, so you jump off the side door) as spawn point for the U.S., many of those will be placed high in the sky so germans don't see it. (Weird to see chinooks in WW2 :razz :) . U.S paras will spawn randomly, so they won't be with their squad, to replicate the real mess that happened on the jumps on DDay.

The beach won't be used on this layer and also the german main will be moved to one of the big trench system so you get to fight in the village.

3. I'm currently working on a 1km map featuring some tanks for both factions. The map will be really "bocage" like with high hedgerows and lots of fields and vegetation, ditch, etc. I'll post some pictures in a week or two.

January 16, 2012 UPDATE

I'm the king of the world!

Wait, what? Since when did the Titanic had 300mm guns?

The ship you see above is a Battleship from the BF2 mod "Battleship mod". The cannons will be used instead of the docks' mortars and the reload time should be slow, 4 300mm cannons do alot of damage  . We don't know yet if we should use the cannons on the back, that might be too much firepower.

Now with this you won't have too much problems capping Command Center from the germans
The mortars will be removed... and the docks too! We might have this instead of the docks :

As you can see, this boat has a great ammount of space so it should be the new spawn for the US team where the supply crates and boats will be located at.

There will be a spawn on the Battleship too so you can spawn there and use the cannons.

NOTE : All those boats will be made "static" so they won't be vehicle that you can enter and move around. The Battleship won't move, it's only there to shoot.

January 7, 2012 UPDATE

For now we have this video that was uploaded by AfterDune on his youtube account featuring the future US AT weapon, the M18 Recoiless Rifle!

The zoom animation is kindda weird, but this is already fixed :)

~ ~ ~

The Germans will be getting a "Panzerbuchse" anti-tank rifle (Pzb 783R). Although it wasn't really used in Normandy times anymore (too weak by then), it's a nice change from the other weapons. Not as effective against tanks as a Panzerschreck and the likes, but it's not that bad (ingame that is, in real life they weren't effective against tanks at all in 1944). Don't have an in-game screenshot or video for it, but here's a reallife pic, gives you something to look forward to:

Nice. I suppose the M18 will be part of the american Heavy AT kit?

I was wondering, wich would be more suitable for LAT or HAT. The bazooka should be HAT while the M18 should be LAT no?

Yes.

Hmm, I would say the M18 as HAT, as it's more precise and can be fired over longer distances?

Yeah that make sense, also being only used in 1945, seeing less of this on the battlefield is cool, if it was a LAT kit there would be too much of this weapon avaible.

I love AT.

I also have a slight obsession with AT rifles thanks to the original Forgotten Hope also and so the news here is very exciting.

lol it's a non-existant weapon from the mod. A bad model, bad textures, etc :P

It's from the Battleship mod. Won't be included in PN.
