Hey guys!
Well, i would like to know how to stop the map from crashing when you use under.overgrowth in a map. Not the editor, but the actual game itself. Ive been doing some mapping and i go to test them out and it crashes and im almost certain its the under/over growth.
Also, how to find what is crashing your maps, or errors.. that would be really really help full.
thanks
CTR

Posting a error message would be useful
run windowed mode - type this into your shortcut target:
"+menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +wx 0 +wy 0"
where wx and wy set the resolution

In case CroCop's response is confusing, here's a bit more explanation:
Copy & paste your PR launch icon and rename it something like PR Windowed. Then right click on the new launch icon and add parameters to the Target box so it looks something like this:
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +fullscreen 0 +szx 1440 +szy 960
Then when you use the new launch icon, it will start PR in a window (instead of full screen) which will enable you to see most of the errors when they happen. Then do a search for the specific error you're getting.

Ok, also is there a way to stop the editor from overwriting stuff when using growth?

What do you mean? Can you be more specific?

The problem will most likely be that you are either:
1. Having OG outside of the border of the map. This causes CTD.
2. Using OG that cannot be used.
Fixes:
1. go around the map and use the OG placement tool to tweak the OG that will be near the edge of the map. For testing purposes leave about 4 squares distance between the map and the OG. Going into Overgrowth Mode and right clicking with the Overgrowth tool allows you to remove the OG.
2. Make sure that none of your overgrowth is this object: Olive_tree_3 (At least I'm pretty sure this is the name of the vegetation) For whatever reason this object has bad collision meshes and some other things that need to be fixed. DO NOT USE AS OG. However You can use this if you manually place it.

you need to use the _lod versions of the OG object you want if you want to place it in the surrounding terrain.

ah ok, but I thought i read something where when you use growth, the editor either doesnt save it right, or it over writes something sometimes and that causes a CTD
