Hi, I am having problems with slight stuttering when moving around and other things like players around me looking like they are shaking and then suddenly speeding up, like I am lagging behind in game or something. I am not sure how to set this game up for the best performance in the Nvidia control panel or if it's even wise to use the Control panel to configure the game, so can someone suggest some settings for me or is this another problem I have? Also, when I configure the game do I use the battlefield2 exe or the PR exe? Below is a list of my hardware and I am using a Resolution of 1920x1080 to play. Thankyou!!
Cpu: i7 930 factory overclocked to 4.0 Ghz
Nvidia 460GTX
Ram 6 Gig
Windows 64 pro
Motherboard: Gigabyte x58A
Broadband 30 Meg fibre optic cable.

No, it's not my ping. My ping is 33ms on the servers I go on.

When configuring the video settings for PR< do it in PR.
We have to work through the possible problems one at a time.
Some questions,
DO you have this problem when playing vanilla BF2 multiplayer?
DO you have this problem when playing PR on a local server?
DO you have this problem when playing vanilla BF2 single player?
DO you have this problem when playing other multiplayer games online?
Is your hard drive fragmented?
First off, try to defrag the hard drive where you have BF2 and PR installed. The PR installer will place the files all over the hard drive if the hard drive was nearly full and/or highly fragmented before you ran the installer.
Secondly, check your hardware drivers. Are your drivers up to date?
Third, check your firewall/antivirus AND your router to make sure none of them are blocking BF2 or PR. Disable those if you can when playing.
Can you lower your in game video settings to get rid of the stuttering?
DOES your power supply unit have enough Watts, and does it have enough [EDIT]watts AMPS on the 12v rail to supply your 460 ?
You can download Fraps to record your FPS, to get a better idea if/how/when your FPS is dropping and spiking.
I'm sure more people will come along with questions...
we'll help you out, we just need to identify the cause through these questions.

I will try all the above but what resolution would you recommend if my native resolution is 1920x1080 on a 27" monitor? I currently use 1920x1080 in game, but I suspect that this might be the problem. I don't know what resolution would be better then the native one though and if anyone's got any idea's about what Res I should use i'd appreciate it. Also, would this make the screen look stretched by lowering my Res and would it cause a disadvantage on things like getting kills etc?

First of all thank you all for the replies, I really appreciate any help here. I do notice that it is happening in another online game I play which is Fifa 2012, but I only play these 2 games online so I'm not sure about other games yet. I have noticed in Fifa 2012 that there are times when my game suddenly quickens up like crazy for a about 10 seconds, as if it is trying to catch up with game play. I have fibre optic cable for my connection and I'm on 30 meg line. One thing to note is I did put a splitter on this line so that I could have cable TV aswell as the broadband in another room. Do you think it might be because there are 2 junction (splitters) boxes on the line now and it's causing lag spikes? How can I do a good test for these spikes if they are happening? BTW, this is not wireless connection it's wired to the pc, but I do use wireless for my Laptop, but that is switched off when I play online. Thankyou!!

Just do a
speedtest and
pingtest and post results here.
Copy link and post here like this ( image ).

Ok I'll report back with them, but in the mean time here is what I found with the other suggestions. When I create a local server in Project Reality on my own, I get a stutter every 6 to 12 seconds. Battlefield2 single player runs really smooth without stutter and so does Fifa 12 since I took of that other splitter on my line. When I connect to some other PR severs with players on them, I don't get a stutter every 6 seconds or so, but I do feel it stuttering randomly. I have tried lowering all graphics and the same thing happens.

It's a while since I posted last, so anyone have any ideas what could be causing the micro stutters? I saw somewhere something about trying to use page file on a different hard drive, but anyone got a clue how to do this and if it would make any difference?

you must have two physical hard drives, not just two partitions on the same physical hard drive,
With this is mind... you can follow the directions here:
TweakHound - Tweaking Windows 7, Page 7
instructions for you start at :

You must understand that bandwith is just half of the story. There is also line quality which is measured by ping, packet loss and jitter.
From this you posted most of results are excellent, except jitter which is slightly higher, and is not usual for fiber optic broadband connections.
I have shitty adsl which works over copper wires and my jitter is 0-1 ms which is perfect result. Now there are other factors that will cause jitter to appear higher in this test - backround applications running while testing, especially voip software ( msn, skype, teamspeak, mumble )
Jitter explained.
Once you understand ping, jitter should also make sense. Jitter is merely the variance in measuring successive ping tests. Zero jitter means the results were exactly the same every time, and anything above zero is the amount by which they varied. Like the other quality measurements, a lower jitter value is better. And while some jitter should be expected over the Internet, having it be a small fraction of the ping result is ideal.
So in your case ( jitter 7ms ) means your ping was not quite stable and varies a lot. I suggest you inspect your home network and look for flaws there.
