Fps drops

Hey guys , first of all i would like to apologize if this is the wrong thread...

Anyway back on topic - since patch 0.97 everytime if im turned towards a city or a bunch of trees (Black gold ,Burning sands, Shija valley, Kokan...) my fps drops below 10fps... i always played on medium settings and screen resolution 1024?768 or 1280x720 and it never laged (looking back before 0.97). Lets say when im flying the chopper on burning sands , when the city comes into my view the fps drops below 20 - then when it comes fully into my view (droping crates in the city) my fps drops below 10-5.
It worked perfectly before 0.97... and the only thing i changed was the processor which was an intel pentium 1.8 dual and now i have a 3.0 ghz one.

Also one more thing that i would like to add - when i first started 0.97 i joined a training server to see if i still know how to fly and this happend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QZbLB6LUvA
I restarted pr and everything was fine but like i said , i started noticing lag on maps with alot of trees , citys...

Thank you for your time.

Your harddrive?

Delete the cache folder and reload the shaders... maybe that'll help... since u have the black-objects-bug.

Have you updated any drivers for your graphics-card recently? That caused massive FPS drops for me. If you have, install the old drivers again.

Also, if you post this at the "PR:BF2 Support" section instead of "General Discussion" you'll get a lot more help ;)

cache folder and reload the shaders
I think this could be your problem as well... It may also help a little with the fps drop.

Okay , so i deleted the cache folder , and it fixed nothing :/.

I forgot to mention that i am getting these weird black spots all over the map , they are always there no matter how far away or close i am... and they change position everytime i move my mouse.

What graphic card do you have?

I would just recommend you to reinstall drivers for your graphic card (total clean reinstall, make sure to delete old files before installing drivers)

I don't know if it makes a difference but you shouldn't delete the cache folder itself, just the stuff inside the folder.. I can't remember if BF2 makes a new folder by itself (but it probably does)...

When you have deleted the content in the cache folder just try to launch vBf2 and join a MP game. Make sure it says "optimizing shaders etc...." when loading the map. If it doesn't try to set the textures to low and join again. Put it back on medium/high after the game has loaded successfully.

I have a ATI Redeon HD Series 4300/4500. Gonna try and reinstall.

What i ment was i deleted the stuff inside of the cache folder  . Sorry for not pointing that out.
What do you mean by this " If it doesn't try to set the textures to low and join again"?

Il keep u posted 8-)

And while you're there do not use latest drivers. Lots of users reported problems with them. Use older package. Also clear your shader cache by going to My Documents>Battlefield 2>mods>bf2 and delete anything you find there.

Next time you run PR it will optimize shaders again and it should fix this issue.
