WADS and mouse for everything... I get along great with the two so theres no need for me to get a joystick, does a joystick really improve gameplay????....

If your a seasoned K/B enthusiast like myself from the Golden Age of DC, then anything but a keyboard is whack

(seeing as hours using the keyboard while flying, running, and driving has can make one obverse to change). I will gladly ice anyone here in a jet/heli or anything else for that matter with the quick depression of a button on my trusty K/B or Mouse

(no J/S or Pads required

)
Although from a nonobjective point of view, I hear that using a joystick for aerial vehicles can be useful. While Pads I don't really have much info on, but I can assume that it would be much like playing an FPS on a console.

"WADS" refers to the W, A, D and S keys being used for forward, left turn/strafe, right turn/strafe and reverse, respectively.

I started with a controller. Worked great, but if you want to be a serious pilot, joystick is the way to go. You cant beat the rudder twist handle

Joystick is best for flying but make sure it isnt a piece of junk i had a good stick Wingman Attack 2 but it was always coming uncalibrated (good stick bad software)

Everything but flying is mouse and keyboard. Flying is up to you, I use a joystick and others use a keyboard/mouse. The only thing I don't like is the "Joystick Noob" mentality.... wtf is that?

The zboard looks pretty funky but i don't like all that bf2 propaganda all over it, it gives me the idea that it only works with bf2....im perfectly fine with the one i have now....
I would rather master using WADS and mouse rather than a joystick, i figure most average joe's could own with a stick. most people aint that good with a mouse

I'm the same and I've had this same question. Having played BF2 I'm beginning to think that a joystick is a must (given my experience piloting in BF2... not as easy on the old keyboard).
