Hey guys,

i have a "serious" problem.

Yesterday and the days before i was playing PR as usual, no problems, much fun and good talking on Mumble.


Now today, i wanted to play again but when hitting the .exe of PR the game seems to start, i get the normal black screen before the BSS logo comes but then im back on my desktop.

I didnt change any hardware or settings on my PC.


Hardware:

Win 7 x64 Ultimate
Asus Rampage II Extreme
i7-920 @ 2.7ghz
nVidia GTX580
14gb DDR3
500gb HDD
120gb SSD

The Tech guys will probably have more suggestions, but try launching vanilla BF2. It may fix itself... and if you can't run BF2 then they'll need to know that anyway.

Do you run PR as administrator?
And are you 100% sure you didnt change anything?

Black screen usually means that BF2 is damaged, I think your best option is to reinstall BF2 and PR.

Yes, even Vanilla BF2 doesnt work. And Yes, i didnt change anything. Thats what makes me wonder.

I have the installers of Full 0957 PR. In the Downloadsection i can only find the Patch for 0.96 to 0.97 and the 3 part full installer of 0.97...

My connection is DSL1k where i load with max 125kb/s.

Do i have to download the full 4GB full installers because im missing a small patch?

Im afraid thats the case, unless someone has a download link for 0.957 PR to 0.96.

try this before downloading, unless it's to late:
1. go to my documents or documents > Battlefield 2 >profiles
2. each folder is a profile, so 0001 is your first profile 0002 is the second, do the following to all of them:
3. open up the profile folder and right click on the file called video and open it in notepad.
4. find the line "VideoSettings.setResolution"
5. make sure that the resolution is set to your current screen one.
6. save and then continue to do this to all profiles including the defualt one.

good to know, i was thinking about it the whole day, "what did i change, did i change anything?" but when i finished the downloads and reinstallation i went back to this forum and saw your post and remembered "god damn, in my other flat im using another monitor with a bigger resolution.....
