Problem with all servers.........

Ok, this is my problem: When I join a game I get onto the kit selection menu and then it just says the problem with connection issue, on ALL servers. Now this problem only occurs with PRMM and RC. USI and many other BF2 mods work fine for me.

I have re-installed PRMM, BF2, all patches, all the different methods of installing but nothing is working for me. Only one server has worked for me but that was in Japan......

Any ideas you have to help me?

I am running on a fairly modern machine which can handle high settings with NO problems and my internet is 2mb, going through a Belkin router.

Cheers.

Does it disconnect you for absolutely no reason at all? It does that to me a lot on iGi and the other European one, no idea why.

Yep, for absolutely no reason. The only server I've found which doesn't DC me is one in Japan, but I don't like getting shot when I'm lagging around.

It used to work perfectly, but with the v0.3 and v0.32 patches it all got messed up.

I was also wondering, how many other people have this problem?

problem is abit odd and only thing i can say is it must be something to do with either the server, or your connection. Is there a setting on your modem you might have changed?

a windows automatic update ? I've heard those can change settings and you are not aware of it.

Alright cheers, I'll look into it in a bit more depth, shame I'm not a hardcore comp person.

And my USI still works, along with many other a mod. Even vBF2 :(

Probably not the problem, but you could try it for the hell of it.

On your Router/DSL/Cable/Whatever change the MTU setting to 1492 instead of 1500.

Cheers for that, are there any security implications to this?

Did that actually work :P

No there aren't any security issues, its just some web services (websites, online games, whatever) send packets back with some extra overhead or something. So by making it 1492 you leave space for that 1 byte overhead.

I remember reading about it like 3 years ago, but now I'm interested again and will see what google has to say

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_transmission_unit
"Most modern Ethernet LANs use an MTU of 1500 bytes. But systems like PPPoE will reduce this, causing path MTU discovery to come into effect with the possible effect of making some sites behind badly-configured firewalls unreachable."

"With an MTU of 1492 byte, the grand total is 1536 byte, and this is exactly 32 ATM cells of 48 byte payload each. If the FCS is not present, the last of these 32 ATM cells is 4 byte short of being completely filled, which is practically insignificant."

I get the same problem but recently found out it was my college connection. The college decided games were not an important use of bandwidth so they put limits on everyone. pfft.
